I'm going to be volunteering, as soon as my temping stint is over, so I'll find out more about the demographics of the volunteers, then. Flint doesn't have a big Native American presence. The Saginaw Chippewa reservation (Isabella) is north of us, up by Mount Pleasant. Honestly, I doubt that 99% of the people in Flint would even recognize the AIM Flag.

I will say that walking around wearing my Bernie campaign button was a eye opener. I received LOTS of very appreciative and positive feedback.

or I'd press Bernie for an answer on clemency for Peltier.

I'm still pissed at Bill Clinton for leading us to believe that he'd release Leonard, only to free the likes of Marc Rich.

It is a travesty that he is still in prison.

It is sad, how many of the original members of AIM, and people who were involved in the original movement are gone. A friend of mine was a close acquaintance of Russell Means, and I was fortunate enough to meet John Trudell, a number of years ago. I know Dennis Banks and Clyde Bellecourt are still alive.

So many of the old guard are looking rough. I was hoping for a resurgence and every time I thought I saw a spark, it fizzled again.

I still wear the shirts and patches, but the knowing glances are increasingly rare.
