2016 Postmortem

reinstate the ban on contributions from federal lobbyists and PACs."

I wish the petition included a request to fire Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
The DNC changing these rules is a deliberate move to allow Big Money to help fight the People's Movement. This is not only to help the Clinton campaign, but the campaigns of all Progressives.

(39,909 posts)The reason why DWS hasn't been fired is because she is doing exactly the job her bosses wanted her to do.
They were pleased in 2008 when she chaired the DCCC Red to Blue Program and refused to endorse DEMOCRATS in Florida because she didn't want to offend her Republican friends. Instead of being fired for this Party Treason, she was PROMOTED to the Chair of the DNC.
THAT should tell you something.

The New York Times reported that at the time, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in support of the rule changes. Friday's rule changes have raised concerns among advocates of campaign finance reform that it will disproportionately benefit Clinton's campaign.

(31,170 posts)This election is too important to lose for lack of funds.
The republicans spent 80 MILLION in New Hampshire alone....which is more than Bernie raised all last year, and about half of what Hillary did.

(55,981 posts)If the DNC accepts money from the billionaires, they will be able to dictate who is supported by the DNC. That won't work out well for progressives.

(22,271 posts)that he was notified ahead of time that they were going to do this. And he said nothing. I appreciate the effort but Obama is a corporatist and, at the end of the day, he'll work to ensure the corporatist candidate gets the nomination. In this case, he's been amazingly silent since this happened. That's not a coincidence.
