2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton will be DESTROYED w/the truth and a good portion of the Democratic Party along with her.

I watched some of the Fox Voter Revolt show Yes I know it was on Fox but the EXACT sentiment expressed by the former Hillary Supporter that supported her in 08 (and that was interviewed) is what I have also seen other former Hillary supporters say.
The woman said that Clinton is corrupt and the more she learned the more DISGUSTED she became. You try to paint what people feel as hate, but it is not hate. It is UTTER DISGUST with her actions (and those of Bill). Add to that a review of their record and the damage it has wrought and the disgust level increases.
As pointed out on Face the Nation a couple of weeks back the INVESTIGATION of Hillary will begin in the general election. If they didn't want to run against Clinton there are a lot of facts they could have disclosed in primary ads BUT they have not. It is because they know they can destroy her in the general election and a good part of the party with her.
Update: And how do you think that is going to impact Obama's legacy? I think many will end up furious with Clinton over the damage it will do to Obama.

(10,130 posts)I think they're playing possum with the Clinton Foundation. How could stuff like that come out and not be investigated? Timing. I think it's all about timing so she can't clear her name in time before the general election.

(10,497 posts)Trump can make this demand without hurting himself, the other establishment republicans not so much. I am sure they gave the same type of speech to the big banks.
We should not let Hillary off of the hook for her hypocrisy and lies. We know she can NEVER release the transcripts, much like Romney's tax returns. Trust is the big issue with Hillary, if she told them to "cut it out" she could prove it to us. It is an issue we have a right to know in deciding whether she should be the leader of the free world. She says she will be tough on Wall Street and reign them in, putting her speeches to Wall Street in issue. Since she made the statements, she has to put up or shut up!
Jarqui
(10,130 posts)a confession.
The Wall Streeters are mostly Republican. What if one of them made a recording ... tit for tat on Romney's 47% ...

(10,650 posts)I'm a Bernie supporter but this just goes beyond the pale. Of course the repugs have stuff on Hillary they haven't used yet: Did you know she took a bathroom break during BENGHAZI?!!!! Or she used her State Department EMAILS to set up a hair appointment?!!!! Or the CLINTON FOUNDATION got money from rich people?!!!!
This kind of crap in not worth paying attention to. Don't forget the repugs have stuff on Bernie they haven't used yet as well.

(5,614 posts)What the GOPukes "have" on Sanders is their willingness to lie about anything to gain any sort of advantage. Is it possible that Sanders is lily pure and totally unaccustomed to making deals to do something? Possible, possibly, but hardly likely.
On the other hand, as poor Mr. Capehart discovered, making claims about Sanders is not wise unless you line up your ducks before you open your mouth.
Sanders, to the amazement of many, is pretty much an honest politician. The Clinton camp, for example, tried to claim his work for the Democratic Senators was corrupt. He went to holiday resorts and sat by the hot pool with lobbyists. Who did Hillary vacation with? Kissinger?
Like Riddick said, they don't know who their fucking with.

(1,290 posts)If Hillary is the nominee and gets indicted in the middle of the general election, it doesn't matter if she's innocent...it will destroy the party in the eyes of the voters.
We could end up with a President Rubio, and a Republican filibuster-proof majority. They could completely control the state governments of 35 states. They could pack the Supreme Court.
It could turn this country into hell.
TTUBatfan2008
(3,623 posts)...Bernie is helping her and the party sweep the email/foundation thing under the rug by declaring he is tired of hearing about it. I understand he wants to avoid going into this territory, but the Republicans will most certainly not avoid it. The moderators of the debate didn't even bring up the news about the foundation subpoena earlier in the day. Even if nothing comes of it at the end of the day, as long as the investigation is open it will be a vulnerability against the GOP during the general election campaign.

(9,000 posts)Fool me twice.....
My problem with Hillary started with Bill. I thought that I was voting for a progressive and ended up voting for a corporatist that helped drag the party to the right.
Hillary has not gone out of her way to distance herself from that. As a matter of fact she has gone deeper into the abyss.
I have had enough.
Dems to Win
(2,161 posts)Sleazy, greedy, and out of touch. No way can she win a general election. Our Democratic leaders aren't even trying to win this thing. The people have to take control and make sure our nominee is Bernie.

(3,343 posts)Then you're fooling yourself..
Because even a lot of Hillary supporters think she's corrupt. As do many many many liberals.
There's really only two groups that aren't either convinces she's corrupt or dishonest - at the very least - and that people that haven't done their research and people that dismiss everything out of some delusion that Hillary is just one victim of endless smears... And that that IS a delusion.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)of databases and other underhanded statements and deeds of the Sanders campaign. The non scandals the RW has tried to prove for years on the Clintons is not proof to me. BTW, the GOP vetting has not begun on Sanders.
EdwardBernays
(3,343 posts)comparing the one thing Sanders staffers did to years of gross corruption Clinton and her husband have been involved in is laughable.
And pretending that only right-wingers think that is a joke.
You really either haven't done due diligence or are unwilling to get past your Hillary obsession.
Hillary is like a guy standing or a dead body, covered in blood, with a knife in her hand, saying, "technically you can't prove I killed that guy"... which is TRUE, until you realise she keeps showing up covered in blood, standing over bodies, maintaining her "technical innocence".
Technically she's not corrupt. And technically OJ never killed anyone.
When you ACTUALLY look though, the ENDLESS evidence of her corruption is staggering... and guess what, it's ALL going to come out... and all those people that distrust her now, their ranks will be swelled by millions more... because she is NOT trustworthy, and is corrupt.
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)corruption, I will take the Clintons. Maybe Jane should get vetted also. I distrust the Sanders.
EdwardBernays
(3,343 posts)based on LITERALLY nothing... paranoia maybe... who knows..
And yes, please please vet her post-haste.
And then, let's all imagine the ads the GOP is going to start running showing all the times weapons manufacturers who had deals approved by Hillary as SOS were also paying Bill hundreds of thousands in speaking fees.
Because there's a LOT of examples.
Remember that the guy that owns one of the largest DC Lobbying firms, which also donates hundreds of grand to Hillary, and who is Hillary's Campaign Chairman, was also Bill's Chief of Staff. While owning that lobbying firm. A firm represents big pharma, weapons manufacturers and wonderful countries like Saudi Arabia.
That's right, Hillary's campaign chairman owns a lobby firm which represents Saudi Arabia. And that same firm donates oodles of money to her campaign.
And what was it you were saying about Jane again?

(6,409 posts)It's possible many voters will not see much difference between Clinton and Trump, or Clinton and Cruz, or Clinton and Rubio, or... You get the idea. Remember, most voters don't care about the same stuff that gets us all excited. If they see a Democrat they perceive as in the pocket of one set of interests, running against a Republican they perceive as bought off by a different set of interests, they will look at those interests to see if anything aligns with what matters to them. If they see no common ground, they will stay home. As we know, low turnout elections are bad for Democrats, so we would lose even more at the state, county and local levels. What do you think? Is this a risk?
