"The facility won't be big enough," Sorenson says, "and I'm afraid [Bernie Sanders'] supporters will be affected the most."
Sorenson charges the DFL's grand poobahs with contracting or at the very least, turning a blind eye to the number of caucus spots to keep the vote down, thus favoring Hillary Clinton. In a blog posted last week, Sorenson accused Minnesota DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin of complicity. He also skewered DNC super delegate Rick Stafford, a Clinton devotee and until last month, the Senate District 62 chair.
"[Precincts like the one in Whittier] had very [high] turnout and participation in 2008s presidential preference balloting, voting overwhelmingly for Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton," wrote Sorenson. "By all apparent signs these precincts... will vote overwhelmingly for Bernie Sanders instead of Rick Staffords chosen candidate."
Sorenson believes the party is trying to squeeze out Sanders supporters.

(115,836 posts)In 2008 the state PTB supported Hillary but Obama won the caucuses by a large margin. This year the state PTB are still supporting Hillary and it sounds like they will try to suppress votes for Sanders by whatever means they have at their disposal. This just makes me even more determined to caucus for Bernie.

(99,710 posts)In 2008 Nebraska had it's first caucus. All of Sarpy county was in one location. Turnout was so heavy the county sheriff shut down the entrance to the high school. It is believed over thousands didn't get to the caucus. This year there are 4 precincts for the county.

(146,329 posts)held in the same place they've been held for the last several elections, including 2008. It's a high school. Each precinct has it's own classroom at that school. If a precinct has too many attendees for the space, the caucus moves to a larger room at the school, like the cafeteria or auditorium. That didn't happen in 2008.
I'm a precinct chair, and have seen no such "squeezing out" of any attendees. I can't speak for other areas in Minnesota, of course.
