2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo my husband and I voted today.
Early voting has started in TN and since we were working nurses until this election, we often voted early to be sure we could.
There were sample ballots on the wall outside the room (at a local community college). The GOP ballot was very long and very confusing...we did not spend any time figuring that out. They had to vote for their candidate ( and the ones who had dropped out were still listed) and then for delegates. There were 41 names and they were organized by the delegates names not the candidates. Also if a delegate had registered for a candidate who had dropped out, their names were also still there. It was really confusing and filled with the possibility of errors....many errors.
We Democrats did still have extra candidates, too. But we had one choice, one place to select. It was easy, quick and meaningful.
Now, I will admit that I voted for Sanders and suspect my husband voted for Clinton.....but we will both be glad to vote for either in the general election. The chance that a Democrat could make much headway in very very red East TN is almost too small to measure.
We walked out smiling and giggling at all the confusion this GOP mess is causing.

(6,929 posts)that my very first vote in any election was by absentee ballot when I was a student at Maryville College. I was a resident of GA and the voting age was 18 there (it was still 21 in some states). I voted for Hubert Humphrey.
