MSM pounce on new PPP poll showing Romney up, but ignore Gallup poll with Obama up!!

Both MSNBC and CNN this morning are jumping for joy over the latest PPP poll that has Romney leading Obama, but nowhere did I see them even touch the latest Gallup poll that has Obama up five.

Chucky Todd couldn't wait to report on the PPP poll. Carol Costello over at CNN smiled from ear to ear, and declared "What a difference a debate makes" in reporting the PPP poll.

If this doesn't put in stone the fact that the MSM wants a horse race, then nothing will. This is pure political pandering to the neo-cons, who always say the MSM is liberal.

the MSM is having the time of their life. Obama is going to bounce back up and already is in some quarters.

Unfortunately Obama gave it to them.

If he had performed well, he would be winning and the media wouldn't be able to do this. This is one time where we can't blame it all on the media.

Having said that, 1:00 PM will be an important time today because we can perhaps finally get some clarity on the new Gallup numbers. I hear it may go up further for Obama, but I'm not going to assume anything until I see it.

Since Gallup is switching to the infamous likely voter screen today, I was pretty nervous. But another poster suggested Gallup hinted they'll be tied in likely. I can live with that.

Folks, stop cherry picking polls. The polling was going to be terrible for Obama after a disastrous debate. Anyone who was honest with themselves knew this.

I expect Gallup to go down 1-2 points and move into a 1-3 point Obama lead by end of week. Which is GREAT for him after that fiasco last week.

Pay attention towards latter half of week. Thats when we'll know if this is a serious bump or temporary.

is a seven day poll that includes both pre-debate and post-debate responses. A shorter range Gallup poll based only on post-debate responses has the race tied.

I haven't watched MSNBC or CNN this morning, but I did notice that Business Week, of all things, had a pretty balanced report on the polling. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-10-09/polls-skewing-after-obama-romney-debate-neeed-more-time

9. The Gallup poll requires too much explaining.

Yes, their most recent rolling average showed a growing gap... but at the same time they were saying that three of their most recent days showed the race tied. Then there's the fact that they're the last polling firm to still run an RV poll instead of LV (the most recent other one I've seen is a month old). They've as much as leaked the fact that when they switch over (today?), the race is a dead heat.

Lastly... the gallup poll comes out every day. Pew, PPP, and Battleground are 2-4 weeks apart (and thus more likely to be viewed as "news&quot .

10. The Gallup poll is a 7 day poll average which started before the Wed debate

It's slow to pick up the debate disaster Obama had.

Anyway, national polls are not the best indicator for Prez. Swing state polls are.
Right now, Obama has lost ground in MI. He lost a lot there. He's above water in VA.
I'm really interested in OH. Haven't seen a poll from there yet that was done after the debate disaster.

In one sense, this poll reversal will wake up Prez Obama, who for whatever reason, was way off is game Wed night. He's not a great debater, but he's done better than that before.

Until his next debate, I see this political "storm" similar to what he experienced in NH during the 2008 NH primary when, in a similar mood as on Wed night, he said that Hillary would do just fine. That comment cost him NH. Fortunately, for Obama, he never made that kind of mistake again until this past Wed. He's got time to rebound.

I expect Biden, who is a more experienced debater, to do a much better job than Obama. Ryan seems to already be feeling the pressure. He walked out yesterday on a good question by a reporter who asked him how can he help poverty and crime stricken areas when he and Romney plan on slashing spending. Biden won't let Ryan and Romney get away with lying. It will be interesting to see how Biden frames their lying.
