(99,710 posts)I saw on another site that Bush Pere and Ford had approval ratings > 50% . Can somebody confirm that? Intuitively it doesn't make sense as Bush Pere only received 37% of the vote.

(26,743 posts)Using Gallup's figure, he was at 47-49 at this point and hit 53-44 on election day.
Of course we could probably also say Truman. There wasn't any approval polling (that I know of) after June, but he was in the 30s at that point IIRC. A big part of eroneous headline.
