2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHey, great! We're still the underdogs. BTW, 4% is not a mandate.
Thinking that we're on top is always going to be a bad point of view. A momentary advantage in the polls and all the rest do nothing to change the fact that we are up against the entirety of what we can call the Establishment, with both Wall Street and DWS doing everything in their power to shut us down.
Not to mention the media. The talking heads on MSNBC, for example, could not control their glee and grins and smiles as they reported HRC's victory.
One of the panel members on CNN mentioned that if you read a transcript of HRC's statement you'd think it was one of Sanders' stump speeches. You could check off all of Sanders' points, almost point for point with what HRC promises to do.
If there was any reason to believe she believes in and will implement them we could all go home. As it happens there is reason to distrust anything she says.
See you in Philadelphia.

(15,429 posts)So if Sanders has 4% more pledged delegates than Hillary, but neither have enough pledged delegates to win the nomination, that's close enough that it's just fine and dandy for the Super Delegates to make the final cut?
Nice to know you feel that way!

(67,782 posts)...in Nevada would decide the nomination (although had Sanders won.........)
We're waiting until states like South Carolina (Clinton ahead by almost 30%), Texas (Clinton ahead by about 25%), Florida (Clinton ahead by about 25%), etc. THOSE will be "mandates".
By the way, as for today in Nevada, it wasn't "the Establishment", or "Wall Street", or "DWS" that shut Sanders down, it was the DEMOCRATS of Nevada that did the shutting down.
Now on to South Carolina, Super Tuesday, and the Democratic nomination.

(15,951 posts)everybody was slobbering over that poll that had Bernie within one-point of Hillary in NV and lots of articles about her "firewall" eroding and how Bernie was going to win an upset victory. So the expectations game worked for Hillary this time.
