Desperate to keep poll numbers from falling, Mitt claims to have known navy seal

I sure hope the Obama team is researching this. Smells like another one of
Mitt's "my dad marched with MLK" name dropping whoppers.

"Romney only recently learned for certain that Doherty was the same man he had met at a party in La Jolla, California, a campaign spokesman said.

Reminiscing on a windy Tuesday in Iowa, Romney cited reports on CNN International that Doherty had left a safe location to rush to the aid of the consulate under attack last month.

"They didn't hunker down where they were in safety – they rushed there to go help," Romney said, tying that spirit to his candidacy. "This is the American way – we go where there's trouble. We go where we're needed. And right now we're needed."

The two men met under unlikely – and humorous – circumstances, Romney said. Several years ago he and his wife Ann headed out for a neighborhood party but did not confirm the address on their invitation.

"We went over, knocked on the door, they let us in 'good to see you' when we came in," Romney said. "We had dinner together and got our pictures with everyone."

"Turns out, this wasn't the neighborhood party," he continued, to laughter from the audience. "This was a family having a party with their friends all right?"

for political gain. God bless the soul who died for our country. Romney was on vaca in France during the Vietnam War and he tries to appeal to our patriotism by using this man's death. Is that what just happened or am I just too cynical?

When America needed his sons, they worked for Willard trying to get him elected, that is where Willard figured they could serve their country better. He even said so.

America now says, 'Willard we now need you to go away.'

Similar to Ryan's claim that because he sends other people's children to war he has foreign policy credentials. Gimme a break

Has either of these men visited Walter Reed? Has either of these men attended a fallen hero's funeral? Do they have a f**ing clue what the sacrifice and cost truly is?

Gimme a break

Doherty was a member of the advisory board of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, an organization that opposes proselytizing by religious groups in the United States military. MRFF founder Michael L. Weinstein said that Doherty had "helped me on many MRFF client cases behind the scenes to facilitate assistance to armed forces members abused horribly by fundamentalist Christian proselytizing."[6]
