Nevada, California, Bernie & a Note of Optimism
So the Nevada caucus is over and Hillary, the darling of Goldman Sachs, has won by a whopping five points. Let's give her a hand on her stupendous victory!
But maybe, just maybe, the WalMart Queen shouldn't be cashing in just yet (& we know she loves to cash in). You see, right next to Nevada is mighty California. Now Nevada might have only recently become blue for Obama, but California's been most liberal for a long, long time. Nevada may have a Republican governor and Senator, but in California, conservatism of that degree is completely unknown on a statewide level. No, the Republicans themselves know to write off California -- it's far too liberal.
It's Bernie Country. That is, if we can make it so by California's primary date, June 7th.
And with 38.8 MILLION people, it has 13.8 times more people than does Nevada!
We must keep in mind that Hillary was able to win this state in 2008, but at least some evidence is suggesting that Bernie may well be more popular among Hispanics now than Obama was. Moreover, I strongly suspect that Hillary's overall favorability rating among Democrats was much higher in 2008 (heck, in 2008 I had no idea she supports fracking and that Henry Kissinger is a good buddy of hers, among other things).
So go out wherever you are with OPTIMISM, striving to ensure that our next president will be our next FDR, not some "Triangulator-in-Chief."
