2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOnly Today Did I Get Angry... Because this is Getting Ridiculous.
I have yet to donate to any campaign, there are no signs in my yard and I don't even own a button.
I looked forward to this primary season because it feels like new challenging old (even though us Gen Xers are but a puff of wind again )...
However, I have found so much to dislike this primary season... in the fake outrage that is the makeup of so many supporters instead of discussing the issues, where each candidate is making clear points. I am left to believe that a good majority of Hillary and Bernie supporters aren't really sure where their candidates stand and simply wanted to join the football game.
Here are some things:
Hillary's emails are a non-issue to me.
Bernie does not hate black people.
Just because someone is a Labor-and-women's-rights activist does not mean he/she might not be mistaken and questioning that does not make someone anti-labor, anti-woman or anti-civil rights.
I don't believe Hillary is a Republican who will play into the worst of the Right's plans.
I don't believe Bernie is a Communist who is promising ponies.
Neither are evil/naive.
A good majority of their supporters need to keep these things in mind when they are trying to attract voters because there is not much of worth being posted here these days...
... and what is posted rings hollow as super-fake outrage and name-calling. I will continue to hide rude posts by both Bernie and Hillary supporters and I will vote for the Dem nominee in November. Even if it's the last time because it's all become a bit of a joke (and I never thought I would say I was done with politics).
Elleng, thank you for being the one bright, shining star in this cesspool of silly.
I'm out.

(5,792 posts)I also know exactly where Hillary stands. I disagree with you. None of this is a joke to me. If it's the last time for you so be it. It will be the last time for me if the change this time does not happen.

(32,324 posts)However, I have to say that I admire people who are passionate about one side or the other a lot more than someone who desires lightness and unicorns. (Political causes rarely if ever are about lightness and unicorns.)
We Sanders supporters are supposed to say that we will remain totally committed Democratic voters for the rest of our years on the planet, even if it is Hillary who is the nominee, but you are an exception to the rule - this is the last time you will ever vote Democratic because things got intense??????
Oh boo hoo!

(154,021 posts)that said, some of these things ok, dirty tricks... are like american pie, whether they actually happened or not.
And this is providing to me why the Web will have to be closed by the oligarchy
Oh and yes Trump is going to be the R nominee, and I can see him winning the presidency.
I just posted the summary piece at RSD on today's vote... and the exit polls and what they tell us about the race is the most fascinating part to me.
Dirty tricks, real or imagined, have been covering politics long enough to know they are just that... part of the side show.

(94,683 posts)...just be thoughtful about the choice.
And remember that what happens HERE has little to do with the actual Primary.

(68,918 posts)People have lost their collective minds. I will vote for the Dem nominee, with fond memories of the Dean campaign on my mind.
