I wish Jim Webb was VP right now

he may be a moderate on some issues but he doesnt take crap from anyone. i was very impressed with his criticism of romney recently on foreign policy. Webb wouldnt "debate", he would search and destroy.

I want to see him, and the other Vietnam veterans do more to expose Mitt Romney as a pro-war draft dodger.

We have done very little to expose this issue, and the Obama campaign hasn't even gone there. If they don't feel they can do it directly, they need to have Webb and others do it.

It was DISGUSTING that Romney appeared at a military institution in Virginia yesterday to give his foreign policy speech and got to act as if he is some big supporter of the military when neither he nor his 5 sons have ever served. Why was this even allowed? Why should all of those cadets have had to stand up when Romney entered the room?

And he did hint at the fact that while he and other men of his generation served, Romney who is about the same age, did not.

Rachel Maddow & Lawrence O'Donnell have talked about it, and there are several Vietnam Veterans groups for Obama out there who call Romney out for it online, but I don't think the general public knows.

During the debate, Palin asked, "Can I call you 'Joe'?" Mostly because she kept slipping up in practice and referring to him as "O'Biden." She even did it once during the debate!

The problem Biden had with her is that she was obviously out of her league and he risked coming off as a bully if he flat-out let her have it. That reigned him in quite a bit. Happily, there's no such issue in debating Lyin' Ryan, a veteran of 8 debates.

A whipping to a shapeshifter like Ryan, that's sayin' something. Although it's hard to debate with someone who just repeats lie after lie and doesn't follow any rules of debate.

Let's hope the moderator isn't cowed by Ryan's awesome abs or Adam's apple. Or whatever the hell the GOP loves him for. Because it sure isn't integrity or brains.

And good point about Palin and not being rough on her. She could dish it out but couldn't take and then her followers wailed whenever she was criticized. I remember that.

As he came off the stage, he told his aides, “You guys owe me. You don’t know how much restraint that took.” I'll bet!

I think he'll do extremely well tomorrow night. He's got the experience and the knowledge to handle anything that little weasel can possibly throw at him. I hope he doesn't hesitate for a moment. You're absolutely right, it is hard to debate a shapeshifter/contortionist, but I think Biden can do it. At the very least, he can repeatedly call him out for his multiple positions.

Here's hoping!

we could use Bob's journals(his habit of writing down his daily thoughts/doings every single day.

He could open one up, and say Mr. Ryan, your candidate said in April 2012...
your candidate said in May 2012
your candidate said in June 2012, etc.

but Bob was considered too old, too boring, too obsessive, etc. We wouldn't have today's republican party had Bob been picked years ago.

But I think Biden will do well...whether or not the spin will be as pathetic as it was last week is another story. But the debates in the end will prove meaningless.
Kerry won all 3
Gore won all 3
Lloyd Bensten pulverized Danny Quayle
and yet their teams all were not seated in office.

(and without the shenaningans of Reagan / Bush making a secret deal to hold back release of the hostages, and without the democrats fractured and not together, Jimmy Carter easily would have won reelection. It wasn't the debate, it was just a soundbyte by team Reagan.

I wouldn't mind if Biden were Hillary45's VP for another 8 years after President Obama44 finishes his 8 years in office.

Senator Webb is by far the best example of an individual who puts country above party every time. He would never tolerate the mendacity of
the Republican party's candidate. (I will never
use that person's name.)
James Webb would make a fine President.

Allen essentially shot himself in the foot. If you wanted a Vietnam Vet, Senator Reed or Senator Kerry would be better choices - and Kerry is an exceptionally good debater. However, Biden is very good at debating and he has a son who went to Iraq.

However, in 2008, Biden gave the team someone with solid middle class background and excellent foreign policy knowledge. Not to mention, I would not want Webb who is nearly as bad as been Nelson in terms of being a very conservative Democrat as VP.

He used to be a Republican.

He is the guy to tell those Republicans that it is "OK" to cross over and vote for a Dem, and they will believe him.

Webb was a good enough candidate--he had Norfolk/VA Beach and a big chunk of NORVA sewn up before he even opened his mouth. A lot of people got promotions while he was in the Pentagon, during the 600 ship Navy build-up. People remember those pay raises fondly.

I'll be the first to acknowledge that Macaca Man gave us a huge gift with his big fricken mouth, but he was just "less beloved" than his smarmy ass thought it was!
