Labor, African Americans help Clinton win Nevada

Clinton corralled 52 percent of the vote, powered by support from union workers and people of color, whom her backers have touted as key parts of her “firewall” that would insulate her campaign from being overrun by the senator from Vermont.

“Americans are right to be angry,” Clinton said in her victory speech in Las Vegas, echoing one of the key drivers of Sanders’ campaign, “but we’re also hungry for real solutions.”

The question now for Sanders is, if he can’t win in Nevada, a state that more closely resembles America’s demographics than Iowa or New Hampshire, where can he pick up another victory? The next contest is Saturday in South Carolina, where Clinton leads by 24 points, according to an average of major polls by Real Clear Politics. It’s a lead powered by wide support among the state’s many African American voters.

“He certainly made it a race here, and you can’t dispute the fact (his supporters are) pushing her to take positions she didn’t think she’d want to take,” said David Damore, a professor of political science at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and senior analyst with the Latino Decisions polling and consulting firm. “But the next few states are going to be tough for him.”

Sanders isn’t reaching African American voters: Nevada was the first real test of whether Sanders, who represents a state that is 95 percent white, would be able to attract African American voters. He failed. Clinton won 76 percent of black voters in Nevada, compared with 22 percent for Sanders, according to entrance polls.

“She picked up huge African American support,” Damore said, “that she didn’t eight years ago,” when she ran against Obama.

Especially the part about her grabbing the votes she lost to Obama in 2008 in Nevada. Had Obama not gotten the nod in either OH or NH in 2008 those votes would have been hers.

White privilege rage.

Just like the tea party on the right.

It's easy to see today after his defeat in a diverse state that's much more representive of America.

The bro rage is out of control and aimed at PoC and unions.

It's a terrible movement and it's end is drawing near.

The agenda and behavior behind their kind of mentality should never be validated by a having a victorious candidate who doesn't necessarily share their thoughts.

He will win

Hispanics, Muslims, Native Americans, Asian Americans. They live here and vote here too.

And I also think he can make a dent in the black community where younger people will come out for him.

And who is supporting and running on the the same policies that are essentislly a slight modification of George W.Bush fiscal policie that took the the number of people living in poverty in this country from 32.6 million in 2000 to 37.7 million in 2008 to 46.3 million today.

42.5% of Hispanic children are living in poverty and 38.4% of black children are living in poverty.

The same policies that took our national debt from $5.73 trillion in 2000 to $9.8 trillion in 2008 to $19 trillion today.

We have the highest corporate profits in history and the lowest wages in 65 years.

The people want more of this ?

CORPORATE profits are at their highest level in at least 85 years. Employee compensation is at the lowest level in 65 years.

The Commerce Department last week estimated that corporations earned $2.1 trillion during 2013, and paid $419 billion in corporate taxes. The after-tax profit of $1.7 trillion amounted to 10 percent of gross domestic product during the year, the first full year it has been that high. In 2012, it was 9.7 percent, itself a record.

Until 2010, the highest level of after-tax profits ever recorded was 9.1 percent, in 1929, the first year that the government began calculating the number. "
