2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEver heard of planned chaos?
Chaos is not always just happenstance. You put things in place so chaos can prevail and then you can do whatever you want while chaos reins.
And this applies to more than the Nevada caucuses. Step back and look at the big picture.

(86 posts)I've been thinking about this very issue and wholeheartedly agree with you. I think the other problematic part of this is that it become very difficult to address it because of the chaos being complicated and that makes it difficult to begin unraveling it so you can provide a fix. I think this Nevada caucus, especially, is a primary example and a disgrace of the Democratic party. I am ashamed of what they are doing, though I know the standard reply will be "this is just politics," which is why I so strongly support the Sanders campaign.

(2,382 posts)That's what Dubya sneered at McCain after "Turdblossom" Rove concocted a lie about an adopted child in the McCain family. What's that tell you about the Clinton campaign's standards for honesty?

Let's keep it real here.

(5,943 posts)But if some (apparently anonymous) Clinton supporters have shrugged and said, "hey, it's just politics" in regard to this or that complaint, is that really grounds to equate the Clinton campaign with the Bush/Rove campaign?

They are using an variation of disaster capitalism. Create disorder and use it as a cover to steal.

(1,443 posts)if you want to make it as time-consuming , frustrating and difficult to vote as possible the caucus is a great way to do it. like Bernie said when voter turnout is high progressives win, when it is low we lose. hence the two party status quo does not want to see high voter turnout and will do everything they can to suppress the vote.

(45,319 posts)2008, Huerta said Obama supporters engaged in intimidation and voter suppression against Latinos in Nevada. 2016, same thing about Sanders supporters in Nevada....
" Nevada, where she got almost 59 percent of the Latino vote, in spite of the oppression and the voter suppression and huge intimidation on the part of the Obama supporters of the Latino casino workers, they voted for Hillary. "

Huge intimidation. Huge. On the part of Obama supporters. Or more accurately, on the part of anyone who is running against Hillary no matter what the facts are.
She also said Obama lacks courage, lacks judgement and refused to associate with Latinos. It's the same scene, slightly rewritten and inserted into this cycle.
It's far too transparent for the internet age.

Funny, when Sanders won NH, most Clinton supporters just congratulated him and moved on. I may have missed the passive aggressive insinuations of a conspiracy, but I did mostly follow along.

(4,389 posts)You can even hear one guy say "They will register after this." It's possible these people voting for Hillary aren't even actually from Nevada. This happened on February 20, 2016 during the Hillary Clinton vs. Bernie Sanders caucus in Nevada. Hillary Clinton ended up winning.
