Hillary campagin paid Katy Perry $70,000 and secured her endorsement

Katy Perry was paid $70,000 by Hillary Clinton's campaign, The Washington Free Beacon reports. Perry was notably one of the first major celebrities to come out in support of Clinton; she was paid by the campaign for "event production" two months after she offered her endorsement.

Yet even before the reports came out, Perry's endorsement was being called into question. In a since-deleted Twitter rant on Wednesday, singer Ryn Weaver accused Perry of a "$$ endorsement."

***Clinton’s campaign is not the first to enlist the services of Perry’s company. Barack Obama’s reelection campaign paid Kitty Purry Inc. more than $128,000 for a host of services related to a campaign event.

Those payments were made weeks after the president was reelected.

The Obama campaign reported paying the company on Nov. 26, 2012 for event site rental, staging, sound, lighting, travel, and lodging. It was not clear which event those payments financed.

Perry was a high-profile Obama supporter during the 2012 campaign, even donning an Obama-themed dress, complete with campaign slogan “Forward,” during a concert at an Obama rally in Wisconsin.***

As I said up-thread, I think it's only right for the campaigns to pay for the cost of the concert staging.

$70,000 is not a payment for Katy Perry's services, A-list starts like her receive millions for special performances - the money was for the cost of production/travel/entourage.

Imagine how worn out she (or any popstar) would be if it only required $70,000 to get them to perform a special event concert...
