The System has no Soul.

Power-and-money-scrambling. With a painted-on veneer of dog-whistle "issues."

"Public service"? How laughable.

The basest of values. Domination of self; of crony-class-favors; of rights-restricting-religion. Soul co-opted by greed; by power to reward friends and further entrench. This is "pragmatism." This is "realistic."

Bernie's lifelong labor is to its core Soul and compassion, a genuine public "servant" who is a voice of salvation for our humanity. Long on the front lines of injecting Soul in The System. His grasping is not for money, not for cronyism, not for raw power or status. His drive isn't for more for himself, it's to Flood the System with Soul. This explains why he is inspirational.

Soul matters. Flood the System.

Systems are amoral.

Saying "the system has no soul" is redundant.

5. somewhere in the equation is a dose of immorality that you're missing

if corporations are amoral and the system is amoral... how is it that the system -- whose contours are largely defined by the preferences of supposedly amoral multinational corporations -- so often produces immoral outcomes?

is it amoral to outsource jobs to the cheapest, least-protected labor forces available? is it amoral to dump toxic waste in the ground, water, and air? is it amoral to foment and fund climate change denial? is it amoral to install defeat devices in diesel emissions systems?

is it amoral even to profit?

profit means getting more than you've given.

are corporations really amoral?

Systems and corporations are not immoral. Morality is up to the people who move the corporations and systems.

7. Precisely! So shouldn't we desire a highly moral person to helm the System?

Someone who is completely disaffiliated from the rampantly immoral people who run corporations?

You've just hit the nail on the head of my primary reason for supporting Hillary. I chose the most moral candidate in the field.

9. The most moral candidate in the field does not support the death penalty.

The most moral candidate in the field names climate change as the greatest threat to our nation and indeed our planet.

The most moral candidate in the field voted against the Iraq War.

The most moral candidate in the field devoted his life to helping the poor.

The most moral candidate in the field is not a flagrant, high-flying, elitist millionaire nor has he ever been on the board of Walmart.

The most moral candidate in the field was arrested at 21 protesting against segregation.

Bernie's morals are much closer to my own.

On everything but the definition of morality it seems we agree!

I consider Hillary Clinton the most moral person running for president.

I have a very low opinion of Sanders' morality.

17. Of course it's meant as a metaphor, we agree. Soulless people run soulless institutions of all kinds

Ethical tone starts at the top and pervades any organization. Through the collective decisions and actions of its members, management, etc. Denying ethical responsibility by blaming our actions on the system we're in, of whatever kind, is often used to relieve each of us for individual responsibility.

15. All (non natural) systems are comprised of or constructed by people

The soulfulness or soullessness of these systems are entirely dependent on the people who comprise them and/or construct them.
