It is my impression that Sanders is looking for victories, and Clinton is looking for.....victory
Today on MTP, Bernie Sanders discussed his path forward and said he thought he had a chance of winning in Minnesota and Colorado (Caucus States), Massachusetts, Vermont and Oklahoma. He pointedly did NOT talk about the upcoming South Carolina Primary, or delegate-rich Super Tuesday States like Texas, Virginia, Georgia and Alabama. That suggests he knows he still has a problem appealing to African-American voting blocks in the Southern States, a critical element of the Democratic Party coalition.
What that indicates to me is that Sanders is looking to put some wins on the board to live another day: he'll generate some good news for his supporters and attract more contributions to keep the campaign going, with the hope of building momentum...somewhere.
Meanwhile, Clinton is running a two-fold strategy: competing in all Caucus States to pick up a share of delegates (this was her fatal mistake in 2008), while racking up large delegate counts in States she lost to Obama in 2008, particularly in the South. Her goal is winning the nomination as quickly as possible.
