The superdelegates aren't even a "select few" - there are 750 of them!

And if they decide to act together, as they are doing this year, that's a huge voting bloc!!!

It really can't be repeated enough... super-delegates have no place in any institution that would call itself "democratic". They need to go.

Our system of government is is cultivating a variety of super-citizens whose voting power is greater than regular citizens... For example, the wealthy, corporations, etc.

... here's a better idea on how to use superdelegates to do this, to more preserve the power of the votes of the people.

How about all of these superdelegates (and there should be an odd number of them by design) vote amongst themselves on who they support for those tied at the top if that situation happens. That way, the establishment could have a collective ONE DELEGATE vote to decide what happens in the case of a tie!

Doesn't that sound a bit more democratic than the current system? So superdelegates could provide a "tie-breaking" service, and get a free trip to the convention in effect. But as far as being able to collectively have their set of votes count to the same degree as several states voting bodies, when they themselves are a fraction of those people, that then wouldn't happen!

The party is run by big money. There's little democracy within the Democratic Party.

These two videos by Thom Hartmann describe the situation.
