2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDear Hillary....
Dear Hillary: I am a white female over 65. I was on the front lines of civil rights and the feminist movement working hard for the ERA including one-on-one written arguments with horrid Phyllis Schfly.
Last fall I was Hillary all the way. Not any more. I am supporting Bernie Sanders because of:
- The white lies and outright deceit, distortions, dishonesty, disinformation, fabrications, falsehoods, etc. from the your campaign and/or proxies. One would think that after all of the lies & half-truths spread about YOU - you would be more cognizant of what is said on your behalf.
- What appears to me the lack of integrity and trustworthiness (see above).
- Your ties to Wall Street as well as their donations (with strings) to the Clinton Foundation
- Your friendship and acceptance of advice from vile war criminal Henry Kissinger.
- The odious actions of the DNC under Debbie Wassermann-Schultz for your benefit which are reminiscent of the GOP in Congress and Lee Atwater.
- The rigged system of Super Delegates which insults my intelligence and sense of fair play.
- The disrespect shown by Wassermann-Schultz shown to Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
- The rigging of audience participation and questions in the debates/town hall meetings by Wassermann-Schultz in your favor.
- The deafening silence from your camp re actions of Wassermann-Schultz.
- Bill's off- the-cuff statements about Bernie Sanders. What were you thinking, Bill?
- You are starting to remind me of Margaret Thatcher.
- The attempt by your surrogates to spread misrepresentations regarding Bernie Sanders that served no useful purpose whatsoever to further discussion of the issues.
- For me, the above and other actions cemented my support of Bernie Sanders.

(580 posts)and I see HRC, whom I have in the past greatly admired, as a fraud. I'm doing my best to help Bernie get elected to help ALL the people live better lives. I've seen my own quality of life deteriorate from the standard I used to enjoy - we all deserve much better and the only way we can get that is to elect an authentic, idealistic fighter: Bernie Sanders.
Thanks for the GREAT op!!

(12 posts)I am a white woman over 65 who about six months ago would have voted for hillary clinton. No mas, for all the myriad reasons brilliantly detailed in this original post. In fact, I have declared, for better or for worse, if she is the candidate, I will write in Bernie. This has been an arduous decision for me to make, but I have been so repulsed by her performance and tactics I am left with no other choice. I do not advocate my decision, but degrade her every opportunity I get. I spread his word everywhere I can and make those small donations with regularity. She is not yet the nominee. It's still possible he may be.

(1,859 posts)I would add, I'm not voting for her because:
- Her massive and long support of fracking including speeches promoting it on several continents when she was Secretary of state, and the fracking industry currently being in her super pacs - specifically Franklin Square Capital that supports the biggest companies in fossil fuel, offshore drilling and fracking. Exxon mobile is also in her super pacs.
- Her personal involvement in the 2009 coup in Honduras that forcibly removed President Manuel Zelaya, a left populist, from power causing the country to be destabilized and massive death going on still today, as well as this causing the refugee crisis at our border.
- As secretary of state she was part of the Plan Columbia which has been a drug war disaster, destabilized Columbia and caused mass death and also a refugee crisis at our border. It continues to cause death and refugees fleeing today.
- Her involvement and fighting the peace deal in Syria that could have avoided the blood shed we see today as well as the Syrian refugee crises. She really underminded the UN in this and destabilized the whole deal and ended it.
- The fact that she has sold out to literally everybody - her super pacs includes all sectors - insurance industry, Pharma industry, war industry, fiance industry, for profit prison industry(she removed only after being exposed in Huffington Post but took money from), Fossil fuels industry, Fracking Industry, etc. The Bill and Hillary Clinton Foundation also has received large donations from Monsanto, Fracking and Fossil Fuel companies, etc. etc.) And other super pacs have come out for her - even the student loan industry, tobacco and Oxycontin reared their ugly heads in a super pac supporting her(the black Caucus Super pac)
- the fact that when she campaigns I can google every issue she says she will fight and discover she's in bed with the perpetrator so is lying.
It's fitting she wore a gold lame shirt that looks like Dr. Evil's from Austin Powers at one of her debates

(140 posts)That's how she needs to be framed. As Thatcher. Brilliant. I hope it resonates. It is exactly true.

it's sad that it came to that for you though. I would LOVE to feel okay about voting for her if Bernie doesn't win the nomination but for all of the reasons that you listed, I just don't.
