Thousands Greet Bernie Sanders In Greenville
By Krystyne Brown Published: February 21, 2016, 4:36 pm Updated: February 21, 2016, 11:17 pm
With the Republican Primary in the books the attention turns to the Democratic Primary next Saturday.
Sunday afternoon, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders already visited the Upstate. The day after losing the Nevada Caucuses, Sanders was greeted by thousands of supporters cheering him on in Greenville.
Dont you feel the Bern?, Actor Danny Glover asked the excited crowd. He went on to tell them they were part of a campaign that would bring change for our country. It is an historic campaign, he said.
South Carolina for Bernie Sanders "We make our history" - Danny Glover as he introduces Bernie Sanders in Greenville
Sanders returned the gratitude to Glover. He said, Unlike other people who have achieved celebrity status, what Danny has done is use it in the fight for racial and economic justice in our country and I thank him.
Sanders says the campaign is gaining momentum because hes listening to the needs of Americans from all backgrounds.
He is an incredibly honest man who listens to the people, Sam Baker said.
He is very morally correct, Jennifer Buchanan added. It is about helping others and uniting as a people.

(28,876 posts)Yes, I do believe that is it right there.
And that is why I am beginning to realize I may never be able to vote for Hillary Clinton, regardless of the consequences.

(7,830 posts)We all know he isn't going to win SC, brooklynite.
He's a smart guy & he's picking his battles well.
So he won't be there for 3 days prior to the primary. Why is this an issue for you? Why do you think its such a big deal?
brooklynite
(94,596 posts)Take a look at the rally image; besides the guy on stage, how many AA voters can you see?
And if he can't win in SC, he's not likely to in VA, MD, GA, TN, KY, NC, LA, MS, NY, PA, IL....

The media works against Bernie, we know why, but hopefully social media will reach enough people in time.

(24,979 posts)It's gross, like the Clinton campaign generally.
What kind of crew see poll results that say Sanders is ahead somewhere and the first response is, ah but those are white people! This campaign assumes it gets to exploit the black vote, no questions asked, and it is doing everything to racialize the campaign.
There is no programmatic aspect whatsoever since Clintons have never done anything for black people except raise the rate of imprisonment and roll back the employment opportunities and safety net.
The more important question is, what is your position with regard to the Clinton campaign? You're here full time to harangue and harrass and dispense the talking points.
brooklynite
(94,596 posts)Last year Bernie Sanders actually hired a pollster. Do you think his pollster doesn't give him a breakdown of support by race and ethnicity?
Your issue seems to be that Hillary Clinton doesn't DESERVE the support of AA voters. THAT is incredibly presumptuous of you, but more importantly, it DOESN'T MATTER, because African Americans have made their choice clear. Every poll shows overwhelming support for Clinton among African Americans, approaching 70%. This is supported by the fact that Sanders has bailed out of South Carolina, and has indicated that, on Super Tuesday, he's dismissing Alabama, Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee with huge AA voting blocks. If Sanders can't appeal to these voters, he has no path to the nomination, much less the ability to win the nomination (unless you "presume" they'll come along to vote for whomever the nominee is -- a unique assumption for a Sanders supporter). And pointing that out isn't presumptive; it's honest.

(57 posts)When your blind faith for Hillary has caused us to wind up with Mr.Trump as president. The enthusiasm gap is real and you better hope that some of the Bernie supporters turn out for Hillary otherwise she's toast... Also one more thing.. 100% serious question when she says she is a Progressive who likes to get things done, what has she ever done?
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)Gee I'm scared a big democrat like you is going to sit home and help a neo-nazi like Trump/Cruz take over.

(25,816 posts)It's not because Democrats will stay home, (though some have said that), it's because most voters
are independents. I think it's almost 40%. For the most part, they do not want Hillary.
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)If Bernie can't manage to do that then....what are we talking about?
tex-wyo-dem
(3,190 posts)Winning the GE...two totally different sets of voters you're trying to compare.
Whoever ends up being the nominees from each party will have to win over independents to win the election
And Hillary is unlikable and untrustworthy to a majority or independents. She is unelectable.
workinclasszero
(28,270 posts)One comes before the other!
If you want Bernie to be in the GE against Trump/Cruz w/e then he damn well has to win the nomination!
If Bernie cant do that TS! He has proven to be too weak to win his own party nod thereby proving he would be a lousy candidate in the GE, if that's what happens.
See I'm not in some whack personality cult so...
I'm voting for the democratic nominee regardless of who it is! Bernie or Hillary, both one million times better that whatever right wing freak the republicans will be running!
