2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumShame on SEIU. More lying for Hillary.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/02/hillary-clinton-service-employees-international-union-219541"Ahead of Nevada's Democratic caucuses, the Service Employees International Union is distributing literature to members touting Hillary Clinton's support for a $15 hourly wage for workers. But Clinton, who won SEIU's endorsement in November, has not actually endorsed a federal $15 minimum wage. Clinton has said since the beginning of her campaign that she backs a federal minimum wage of $12 an hour."

(108,031 posts)They have been for quite a while. But since they don't support your candidate I guess they don't count.

(4,552 posts)Not only do I support Bernie, so does my union rep.
Pitiful how the management shoved HRC down our throats without a full membership vote.
I pay dues and had no say in their endorsement.

(872 posts)They did used to be a strong progressive group, now apparently the leadership is as corrupt as Hillary. But lying is okay with you, apparently. I guess that's why you support Hillary, because lying's her major skill.

(27,815 posts)Of course they are - just as every single one of HRC's supporters/endorsers are declared "corrupt" the minute they stand up for her.

Sanders support for the Fight for $15 campaign goes back to at least 2014 (http://www.reuters.com/article/usa-restaurants-protests-idUSL1N0R42AH20140904) and he actually rallied with SEIU in DC.

(28,270 posts)The whole union movement needs to be aware of these attacks against working men and women!

(54,770 posts)It might be more than $15/hr in some areas. Sanders' "$15/hr" wouldn't kick in until 2020 -- assuming he could get it enacted. I don't think his staff has quite figured out how much the cost of living differs across America.
