DEMOCRATS For the Democratic presidential primary in Illinois, Clinton leads Vermont
Senator Bernie Sanders, 51 percent to 32 percent among self-declared primary voters in the state.
There are 16 percent who are undecided.
Clinton leads in Chicago, the Chicago suburbs and among downstate Democrats. She and
Sanders split the votes of men but she leads among women. And in a pattern seen in earlier
contests, Sanders leads with voters under age 35, but Clinton bests him with those over 35.
Clinton also holds a comfortable lead among minority voters.
The sample of 422 Democratic primary voters was also from the Feb. 15-20 statewide poll. The
Democratic results have a margin of error of 4.7 percent.

(18,402 posts)Along with all of his delegates (for whom one must vote individually in Illinois). Look again.
And of course people bring their marked sample ballots in with them when they vote. There are dozens of judicial races, and Water Reclamation District, and State's attorney's races, etc. It's impossible to remember all their names. (And it's not like "vote for the Democrat--everyone on the Chicago ballot is a Democrat in the down-ballot races.) I always do my extensive research on every race, mark my sample ballot, and take it with me.

(27,247 posts)You said you are 42nd ward. That implies that your respective ballots would be different. How different, I do not know. I would still like to see a picture of the 13th ward sample ballot.
I googled "Chicago 13th ward sample ballot" and got a notice that the page I was searching for doesn't exist.
http://www.chicagoelections.com/en/13th-ward.html
Then when I clicked the link at the ward's web site for "Your Sample Ballot", all I got was this:

(27,247 posts)all of the delegates listed are for Clinton. Clearly, something is very rotten in the 13th ward.

(25,263 posts)you need to contact the local TV stations and the local newspapers and let them know. You are in the 13th Ward from what is stated at the top of the page. Here is a short demographic profile of that ward:
The 13th Ward, covers parts of West Lawn, Clearing, West Elsdon and Garfield Ridge. Midway International Airport is located just north of the ward.
Demographic
Total Population: 53,722
White: 33.11 percent
Black: 1.84 percent
Hispanic: 63.77 percent
Asian: 0.86 percent (Source: WBEZ)
It is predominantly Hispanic.
There is enough time between now and the Illinois primary to get the word out. Please get the word out. Also - other Illinoisans need to check your sample ballots as well. This might be a dirty trick played out maybe randomly - but enough of those sample ballots might have been sent out to have a significant effect on the voting.
Illinois is known for its shady politics and dirty tricks are fairly common. There are 50 wards in Chicago. Rahm I'm sure is a Hillary supporter. I'm not surprised that this is happening - but it is really unlawful.
Here is a chance to catch the problems before the primary and not just carp about things that have gone awry the day of. This info needs to get out to the voters in the 13th Ward and all the other Wards in Chicago. The people need to be aware of this so they can tell others not to get fooled by this underhandedness.
The other thing that the Illinois voters don't know about and needs to be publicized before the Illinois Primary is this:
Hillary Clinton Got $280,000 for One Speech to Bruce Rauners Former Firm...
This was posted in general discussion primaries. I thought it should be posted here in the Illinois group as well.
Check out this post & thread - the OP is chock filled with interesting info.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511304570
Just knowing that she affiliated with Rauner by a paid speech to Rauner's company should lose her the Illinois primary. Most people in Illinois despise Rauner and have buyers remorse from voting for him. If this fact gets out to Illinois voters it will kill Hillary's chances in Illinois. The voters won't take a chance at having buyers remorse for her too.
It's looking like she plays both sides of the fence here. What was that saying by Dubya? Fool me once and you won't fool me again - or something like that. Illinois voters won't be fooled again.
In my opinion - this revelation just killed all my respect for Hillary. If she won the Dem nomination I was prepared to hold my nose for her. Now I'm not sure what I'd do. I do know I'm going to double down and make another donation to Bernie and work all the harder to make him our nominee.
Go Bernie!!!
Feel the Bern!!!!

(18,402 posts)I don't know who would send that out, but I live in another ward of Chicago, and I received nothing like this. I'd complain to my alderman.
On the other hand, anyone can tell this is not a real ballot: it's an endorsement flyer. So the OP is still wrong: the ballot DOES have all candidates on it. I have cut and pasted the real sample ballot.

(1,936 posts)It is at the bottom of the sample ballot below the red text "continue voting next side".
If someone is up to something it is likely whoever paid for the document.
Also, political groups often make their voting recommendations via "sample" ballots that are not really sample ballots. They are voting guidelines that are dressed up to look like sample ballots.

(25,263 posts)We'll hear the same denials we always hear in Chicago.
It was a mistake, an oversight, we're sorry.
Bottom line though - this sample ballot went out and they can't take it back. Those people that rely on the sample ballot to take into the voting booth - will be going in with incomplete information. The damage is done. And the perpetrators will be laughing under their chin that they pulled off another fast one.
Politics as usual in Chicago.
I'm getting more disillusioned as days go by in our so-called democratic process. We're no better than a third world country.
A sad commentary.

(628 posts)one of the names of the Clinton delegates, Shirley Madigan, who happens to be the wife of House speaker Michael Madigan (who is also on the ballot.) Michael Madigan is also a super delegate. When he was asked who he was supporting he said he was not committing yet. Sure he hasn't. What a crock!

(27,247 posts)It's easy to "look good" when your opponent's name, and his delegates' names, don't appear on the sample ballot.

(25,263 posts)it just reinforces her questionable character. She needs to know about this - what looks like a dirty trick - and she needs to come forth and say that she doesn't condone these tactics. If she doesn't do that it only reinforces her truthiness flaw.
And if you workinclasszero condone such behavior and dirty tricks - it says something about your character as well.

(42,862 posts)I think his biggest problem was that he received a lot of bad campaign advice. Then, it was too late to do anything about it other than to plow ahead with the original plans. This may have helped to solidify his base, but failed to persuade other voters.

(5,946 posts)If someone is receiving bad advice it would be the Clintons, every time they open their moths they seem to be insulting anyone who would be supporting the opposition, basically the people they need to win the GE.You have to accept peole who disagee withyou and convince them they want to vote for you not as the lesser evil, but as a positive choice.
