In Unity there is Strength vs. Demographic Division

Bernie represents a break from the politics of division and polarization.

His message is that we're ALL in this together. He does NOT dismiss the concerns of individual groups or believe they should be ignored (other than oligarchs). But he is attempting to return to the idea of a Big Tent, in which diverse people come together for the interests they have in common, rather than atomizing into separate "segments."

IMO that unifying strategy also makes it a lot more likely we can effective;y overcome problems like racism, sexism and encourage otehr aspects of social justice. It's a lot easier to deal with those issues on a full stomachs, with a place to live and decent healthcare.....Also, if you work with someone on a common goal, it's more likely you might get to know and like them.

If your goal is both economic AND social justice, that seems preferable to demographic division and polarization.

I am having such a hard time with the division and polarization. It's ugly and demoralizing.

The arguments over socialism and ponies are maddening, but they are at least legitimate differences on policies and strategies.

But the things like social issues are just muddying the waters by pitting people with similar positions against each other for opportunistic reasons.
