Clinton does not oppose single payer in principle. She supports improving Obamacare because it in place and working. It would be politically impossible to change to single payer with the current Congress, and trying to do so would give republicans assistance in their desire to repeal Obamacare.

At least since 1994.

And no, working toward single payer would not help Republicans repeal ACA. No Dem is going to support weakening the existing system outside of implementing an improved system.
