(3,616 posts)I think the only way to fix it might be to have it be so blatant (in the stealing), that no one could deny that it is not secure.

(65,474 posts)(according to the feelings of the GOP), don't fix it.
Frankly, I suspect a lot of PTB Dems also benefit from those machines, blocking anyone who challenges them, and that is why nothing is ever done about the easily rigged machines and the pile of evidence that they have in fact been used to rig elections. In fact, there has probably been some sotto voce back room discussions between powerful members of both parties, leading to quiet agreements to protect certain officeholders as long as they don't rock the boat.
I have always assumed that Obama won by a much larger margin than we were told (both times), and that is the only thing that prevented them from fixing those elections. Furthermore, I bet we won a lot of close downticket races that were shifted to the GOP when the margin wasn't huge enough to make that impossible.
And of course they also use other tactics, especially voter suppression to lower the numbers on our side, specifically to make sure the margin is thin enough to allow them to steal the close ones.
