The Dem ad-spending race in South Carolina (Feb. 27 primary):
Team Clinton (camp + Super PAC): $2.1 million
Sanders: $878K
I could have sworn everyone, including Team Bernie, knows that SC is a lock for Hillary.

(11,990 posts)Just knowing you're going to win doesn't mean you stop campaigning... the *amount* you win by matters. The more you win by, the more delegates you get (and the less your competitor gets). Good PR, too.

(6,551 posts)Not at this point. Unless she wants to run up the score right before Super Tuesday.
Right now, I'm not seeing any Super Tuesday states where she is behind except West Virginia and Vermont. There many be a few states where it's tied (within the statistical margin of error), but no meaningful leads.
Are you seeing any, based on recent polls?

(58,785 posts)and Hillary Clinton is running hard for President of the United States. After all, none of this has ever been about who gets to be top dog in the Democratic Party. Even trying to widen a lead over the other candidate is mostly about increasing her advantage coming into the race against the GOP nominee. Looking strong and invincible. It would be the same for Bernie in her position.

(198 posts)And she wants to keep that lead as big as possible. A blowout in South Carolina would certainly be a nice narrative heading into Super Tuesday.

Bernie has 6-7 SC offices.
Doesn't appear that she's focusing as much on ground game in SC. She may be focusing on ad buys and heavy campaigning/appearances in the state.
That makes total sense in a state that you are winning. Ground game is about attracting new supporters or increasing your name recognition. Clinton doesn't need to do those things. She has to focus on getting her supporters to the polls.
That can be achieved with tv ads and campaigning in the state.

(51,122 posts)...and they might not go vote.
Politics 101.
The reason the Democratic numbers are down in our primaries this time, is because most of them believe Hillary will be nominee. Nothing to do with Hillary or Bernie. It's just the nature of voters not to show up if they think it won't make a difference in the result.
