1. Dan, should we take her "mother*cking" word on Wall Street reform too?

Savage acknowledged Clinton made some “noxious” remarks about same-sex marriage in the past — but he said things needed to be put in perspective. Her comments were “similar to the rather noxious comments made by most Dems at the time, including Barack Obama (who said the exact same sh*t, in fewer words),” he wrote.

I think Danny misses the point. It's about having guiding principles and not just going with what's popular at any given moment.

Detracting from lengthy record of one of the most consequential persons to ever seek this or any office only helps Trump and the 7 dwarfs. Go after them for a while and support the democratic candidate who will within days of the inaugural nominate someone to the SCOTUS to replace a right wing bigot.

10. what whine are you talking about?

wanting a candidate's positions to be based on principles and not continually changing with the political climate?

if so, i guess i'm a whiner then.

and btw... how is it "detracting" from the record when one points out the continual changes of positions? that *is* the record.

...and if you are so very worried about the supreme court (and i am as well) you might consider who has a better chance of winning based on empirical data, as well as who is more likely to appoint someone that won't continue to lop off privacy rights and workers' rights while granting more rights to the government and corporations.

...when it comes to scotus you might also consider which candidate "is open to constitutional restrictions on abortion"

but, hey, i guess its "refreshing" to listen to Dan's potty mouth.

2. Who is the real Hillary? The Hillary that supports SSM now or?

Hillary up until 2013, she of the "Marriage is a sacred bond between MAN and WOMAN for the purposes of raising children"

Does Hillary have strong progressive left-wing beliefs but moved right because of the 1994 political zeitgeist, or is she a Rockefeller Republican who moved left as the country moved left?

I say this knowing that Bernie compromised a bit until 2006 - he supported civil unions, NOT same sex marriage.

There are those more emphatically challenging Bernie from the Left that should not be vilified, but considered.

Some issues are more important than ithers. Savage has been in the fight for Gay rights a long time, and he sees this realistically and without being blinded by passion.

That is all I ask. Not to be blinded by passion, but think of what POTUS can actually do and vote your conscience. I also recommend keeping an eye on the actual enemy in the GOP.

My vote has nothing to do with passion and everything to do with what will be the greatest benefit to the country and who I believe has the best chance of beating the GOP in the election.

6. It's not *the* reason I don't support her, but it's a reason

I mean, for the love of god, President Obama came around to it during an election year. And she still hedged and hemmed and yee-hawed until it was absolutely safe for her. She won't lead on my family's issues. Period.

Although, I look forward to all the people who couldn't wait to tell LGBT people to STFU for years to now tout Dan Savage as the voice of all LGBTers and how no one cares more about our community than them.

I have not the ligaments to withstand the amount of eye rolling about to ensue.

Tue Feb 23, 2016, 05:33 PM

favor Barack and those reasons still stand for Bernie. It's a question of courage and leadership. Had she won in 08 she would not have had the courage to do that election year throw down President Obama did. He ran the second time with us and for us and that meant very much to me. She supported equality only when it was incredibly safe and even required to do so.
Even dropping all things LGBT from consideration, it's Bernie all the way. And Dan is living in a dream world if he thinks any candidate can both indulge in years of nasty chatter and never have it stand as evidence of how nasty the chat can get. Cake and eat it too. A person has to be able to live with their own words or they should not be a public figure.
