2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRyan did better than Palin did 4 years ago.
All he had to do is look like a credible person that could take over should the President go down.
That's all he had to do.
Period.
He clearly looked better and more credible than Palin.
Ryan didn't beat Biden tonight, he didn't have to.

(827 posts)sure Ryan came off as more substantial... Anyone could, it's fucking Sarah Palin.

(115,781 posts)Saying he did better than Palin isn't saying much. It's kind of like saying a week-old liverwurst sandwich tastes better than dog shit.

(4,869 posts)You're wrong, Biden dominated tonight, he didn't dominate against Palin, he wasn't allowed to. We kicked ass tonight no matter what you chicken littles think. Stop being a debby downer and get excited for Nov 6.
Biden made Ryan look like an absolute fool on foreign policy.

(11,607 posts)Obviously Biden won tonight.
I said so clearly
What I was commenting on was what Ryan was up against.
Last VP debate probably lost McCain the election. People knew from that day on Sarah was not going to have the intelligence to run the country.
People here are reading my statement wrong.

(11,520 posts)IMO Ryan needed to sustain the momentum they had built up after RMoney's lie filled performance. I don't believe he did that, in fact I believe the momentum shifted back to our side.

There was nothing credible or presidential about him.

(12,160 posts)Ryan was pathetic -- especially fake with that memorized spiel he played back instead of answering the character question near the end. But Palin makes him look like - oh, never mind, he still came across as a two-bit punk. But at least not a complete imbecile like Palin.

(5,051 posts)How bad was it? There was a point where I'm pretty sure Ryan wet himself while the Vice-Pesident was destroying his political future.

(34,857 posts)I don't see how that's comparable. Like saying, in '96, Jack Kemp won because he wasn't Dan Quayle.
