Steve Schmidt made a great point

The insta polls will help determine the winner over the next few days. A 20 point lead now will grow to a 30-40 point lead because these uncommitted voters follow a winner.

This is why Romney got a bump. Folks wanna vote for a winner, we're a front running nation.
