Okay there REALLY IS a REAL transcript from Clinton's Wall St. speeches. Here 'tis.

"Ladies and Gentlemen,
I appreciate your invitation to speak with you.

I will be brief.

Let Them Eat Cake.

Thank you very much and good evening."

Marie Antoinette also never said that.

And anyway, this was Clinton's real speech. Really. Honest.

I wasn't atributing it to anyone else.

the currency reform attempt she pushed was disastrous, but there wasn't really a solid understanding of monetary theory at the time (not that ours today is awesome, but it was absurd back then). She was even the chief proponent of bringing back the Estates Generals. She was personally attacked in the press at the time as a shrewish harpy and bad mother (because the dauphin got tuberculosis), when none of the attempts at attacking her policies had any effect.

So, yeah, probably more accurate than you realize, this joke...

two finger pointing and that weird smile she uses to show she sees someone she knows in the audience. Bet that happened a lot.
