2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCongratulations to Hillary & her supporters tonite. It was expected - but ouch -
we got a whooping tonite.
I'm probably speaking for a lot of Bernie supporters when I say that I am hoping the Bernie campaign is trying to figure things out. As much as there are calls on this website for him to drop out, that's not going to happen and you should be happy for that.
I've been around long enough to know that contested primaries = stronger candidates in the GE. The candidates challenge each other in ways that make them stronger. Policies or votes that they challenge each other on will be debated in the primary, which is a much better place and time to have that debate than it would be in the GE.
We saw that most recently in 2008.
So cheers to you for an impressive win tonite.

(24,689 posts)I do realize now that he represents a huge new group of Democrats that Hillary is having a hard time connecting with. Bernie needs to help the Democratic party evolve to bring these new people in.

(3,580 posts)And I support HRC. I do expect that as the primary goes on, if one of them is having a blow out and running the primaries, the other would drop out. But if it's close, no one should demand one of them drop out.

(2,074 posts)Soon (as in a few months) we will all unite behind one of these two stellar candidates. Let's never forget that even if we have different preferences, for various reasons, in the primaries, in the end we have more in common than the things that divide us.
On to Tuesday, and beyond.
