http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/35006-hillary-clinton-s-faux-feminismClinton and her supporters often point to the potential of a woman president to inspire little girls, letting them know that women can do anything. Yet her own life narrative is not a stirring feminist parable. It is probably true that neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton could have come so far without the other. But who wants to advise our daughters to marry an ambitious, egomaniacal man; stay with him no matter what; and be the first lady for many years? Eventually it will be your turn. Is this a career plan?
Hillary Clinton is not alone: Around the world, many female heads of state have attained their positions through marriage or bloodlines. While it is common for a woman to advance in this way, it is neither interesting nor feminist.

(30,058 posts)Hillary was advocating for children and women before she married Bill Clinton. She was registering voters in South Texas before she married Bill Clinton, maybe saying two great ambitious people married each other. Don't disparage women by saying they are only successful because of who they marry.

Fantastic logic!

How many millions of women are now refugees and/or no longer able to work, study, live freely in countries they once did?
When I see a statement like yours I'd laugh if it weren't so completely sickening.

Dems to Win
(2,161 posts)I saw comments that some people in SC voted for her because she'll have an experienced president by her side, helping her make decisions. Not exactly my hope for a first woman president.
I don't want to send this message to young girls: Any girl in America can grow up to be President! All you have to do is find and marry a man who will be president first.
And, as a feminist, I simply cannot vote to return the Sexual Harasser in Chief to the White House in any capacity. I reject the idea of Bill Clinton as First Gentleman, full stop.

(5,198 posts)throughout the Clinton years not only opposed free choice for women but worked toward joining Church to State we still suffer from today. During the Clinton years, this pandering to the religious right allowed these dominionists influence in government that only expanded when W got in office.
I would love to see a true feminist, someone who openly supports ERA and free choice for all women to run for president. Someone who does not mistake support for the military prison industrial complex, or millions of dollars on arms deals for being a strong feminist. A real feminist would stand up and oppose these Earth and culture destroying policies.
