I Loved the Debate

by BooMan
Thu Oct 11th, 2012 at 11:12:42 PM EST

Joe Biden spent a third of the night eviscerating Romney and Ryan and a third of the night laughing at their lies and stupidity.

I'm a Democrat. I'm a Mid-Atlantic guy. I love Joe Biden.

I loved the debate. It was so satisfying to see the Republicans get taken on in pure Mid-Atlantic style. No respect where it isn't earned. Open scoffing at nonsense. In my opinion, Biden was not only masterful, but he represented me and my values perfectly. I especially loved his extreme aggressiveness on supporting getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan and not starting wars in Iran and Syria.

I thought he kicked ass.
But I honestly have no idea how his disrespect went over with the undecided voters. Romney was richly rewarded for aggressiveness. Will Biden get the same benefit?

Best I've read yet. "Our" collective problem is that we've shown ANY respect for these pretenders thereby elevating them artificially. Joe is showing US the way.

If we do go down, I'd much rather go down fighting like Biden did than trying to be the nice guy while they lie away. I'm not putting Obama down, and I am sure he will stand his ground during the next debate but I truly loved Biden's responses tonight.

Not sure, but I saw a FB post from a friend, who is voting for Obama, but saw the debate and said something about he hoped Biden never becomes President. Not sure why. We are close enough that I may ask him about it if I see him, as I am curious. I loved Biden, and thought he was near-perfect. My frustration with this RW nonsense is about on par with whatever Biden showed. These people need to be schooled. Biden took Ryan to school, I thought.

After watching the debate and decoding the messages, I was thinking along the same lines as BooMan. Biden summed up my values and political persuasions with surprising accuracy. I am surprised, because I thought that I had a unique perspective, but Joe Biden articulated my perspective perfectly. For me, it was his thought on abortion. I am pro choice, but abortion just isn't for me. I am a man and I realize that I do not have to give birth, so far be it from me to decide what a woman does with her body. But it's just not for me. I think that it is wrong, but women should be able to do it anyway. This is basically what the Vice President said. I am a liberal Democrat so I usually just say that I am pro choice and tow the party line, because the cause is bigger than my personal preferences. But it felt good to hear Joe Biden express ideas that are identical to my own.

pro-abortion, liberals included. It's a personal decision that should not be denied women should they need it, and the choice should have nothing to do with politics, politicians, or their opinions.

You make a very astute observation as though it is common sense, as well it should be. It should be, but you and Joe Biden are the only people that have been able to articulate this in a way that I have found to be satisfactory.

Joe had the exact balance between heart felt messaging and hard, cold facts.

Ryan gave a good showing for himself, but Joe was able to cut away at the mystique of the Republican propaganda.

Get out of the way was for me the take away from this debate.

It's a simple message that we have all heard before; If you are not part of the solution, get out of the way....

I could hardly believe the front page article was talking about the same debate I
watched last night--and LOVED. I LOVED that the VP both laughed and sternly
took on Ryan. It was a masterful debate for our side.
