Even Taegan Goddard of Political Wire thought Biden the 'clear winner'

The vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan was one of the best debates I can remember. It was a great service to all Americans.

Biden had the primary goal of firing up Democrats after President Obama's lackluster performance last week. He did that and more. He literally responded to every single assertion of Ryan's and didn't let a single thing go unchallenged. Democrats have to be very happy.

Biden was especially strong on foreign policy but one of his best moments was taking Ryan to task for criticizing the Obama administration's economic stimulus package while at the same time asking for stimulus funds for his own congressional district.

Ryan's goal was to build on Romney's strong performance last week and continue to reassure undecided voters. In the end, however, he found his toughest opponent wasn't Biden, it was his own record and the Romney campaign platform. He had trouble playing defense under Biden's withering attacks. Ryan was exceptionally weak on the proposed Romney tax plan -- "not mathematically possible", according to Biden -- while once again refusing to give specifics.

In terms of style, Ryan didn't take kindly to being interrupted. It was almost as if Biden was coached to interrupt him.

Biden was more prepared, more experienced and the clear winner.

Finally, Martha Raddatz was a wonderfully effective moderator. She continuously pushed for specifics and forced followups to nonsense. She should be commended by both campaigns.

The debates should be about policy visions and plans so we know why candidates support them and why they think their vision for America is best. Not about who won or lost. They should be honest and detailed and direct but the lies and dishonesty of the Romney/Lyin Ryan campaign just begs for correction and fact checking. Without the lies they have no solutions. Without the attacks they have no campaign. What a sorry bunch of hypocrites supported by low information voters and the greedy hordes of the wealthy.

Ryan and Romney just make stuff up and have an altered version of reality.

But she got off to a very poor start. Apparently you have to sit in the chair for awhile to understand the dynamics and make changes. I will give her credit for that and agree that she equipped herself well after that. I do think that way too much was being made of what happened in Libya. While it is tragic that 4 Americans lost their lives in that attack a single insider attack in Afghanistan has much the same result. Besides, do a compare and contrast with other attacks like the Cole, the two embassy's in Africa, the marines in Lebanon and 9/11 itself and it is clear that this was barely a bump in the road.

test for the position of vice president.

If you can ask Biden and Ryan how their religious faith affects their positions on abortion, why can't you ask Romney how his religious faith affects his positions on social issues like marriage, especially monogamy and gay marriage?

The Constitution prohibits a religious test for public office for a reason: wars have been fought over religion. Let's don't forget that. The Founding Fathers were quite aware of it.

6. it was not at all inappropriate. It was about whether they may impose personal beliefs on all of us

Ryan had the perfect opportunity to make clear that his personal beliefs won't impact the professional decisions he imposes on all Americans. He failed.

Biden made his personal beliefs clear...and made it clear that he would never impose them on anybody else.

I only hope and pray that somebody asks Romney if his religious beliefs will impact his decisions. Forget monogamy and gay marriage. I want to know if his religious beliefs in the apocalypse and the White Horse Prophecy are behind his budget to increase military spending by 2 trillian dollars and are behind his bellicose talk about war in Iran.

so what??

I heard several people point out on lamestream media and in various blogs-- the VP debate
doesn't matter; it does NOT affect the POTUS election.

and that's why I watched it for ten minutes.. then turned it off and read a book.
