BIDEN; shows how its done!

Vice President Biden showed us how it's done.

The very first question was directed toward him. It was about the killing of the US ambassador in Libya. It was a tough one, which could have derailed a lesser debater at the very start. It put him briefly on the defensive but he answered the question truthfully, admitting that something had gone wrong and saying an investigation was taking place. From then on it was all Biden.

He immediately went on the attack hammering Ryan on issue after issue from taxes and deficits, to Social Security and Medicare, then Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. He brought up the matter of the 47% and introduced America to Ryan's 30% comments.

Every point he made was made clearly and forcefully with with facts and figures made real with personal stories from his own life and others.

What made it all the more forceful was that he could call upon his own acquaintance with key players to buttress his position and defend himself against attacks from Ryan.

When Ryan counterattacked, Biden was ready and challenged every bit of nonsense Ryan was spouting.

Smiling one minute and showing flashes of anger the next, he showed the kind of passion and conviction voters like to see.

Ryan did fairly well, although he did show an occasional nervousness. But in the end, he was a shallow, talented amateur fighting against a seasoned pro and that lifetime experience and knowledge showed.

Republicans were left with their usual petty criticisms, this time complaining that Biden and smiled too much! Ah! the horror of it! He smiled too much!

Yes he smiled. He deserved to smile. And so should we!
