Romney Says People Dont Die Because They Lack Insurance Heres Why Hes Wrong
In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch in Ohio published Thursday, Mitt Romney repeated a claim that already got him in trouble once this cycle and has reflects an enduring belief among Republicans: that people in the U.S. dont die because they lack health insurance.
You go to the hospital, you get treated, you get care, and its paid for, either by charity, the government or by the hospital, Romney said. We dont have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they dont have insurance.
Its eerily reminiscent of a statement President George W. Bush made in 2007 that haunted Republicans during the 2008 campaign People have access to health care in America. After all, you just go to an emergency room.
Theres just one problem: Its not true.

(21,172 posts)It got infected and he got a bad blood poisoning almost died. He lost part of his finger when he had to go to the emergency room. If he had medical care he could have gone to the doctor the same day got it patched up and given a tetanus shot. Would have cost less than the emergency room. So sorry Mitt people get sick and die because they lack insurance. But he is so clueless to what real American's experience cause he lives in a castle and doesn't go out among the peasants much except to go out and lie to the gullible brainwashed foxbots to get elected.

(1 post)Unfortunately, sir, these men are no longer with us. I have no doubt though, that they might have taken umbrage at your most recent, feckless, and out-of-touch remarks.
Mitt Romney: We dont have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they dont have insurance.
Governor Romney, meet Mr. Kyle Willis, an uninsured victim.
Man Dies From Toothache, Couldn't Afford Meds

Mitt Romney: There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what
.And so my job is not to worry about those peopleI'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.
Governor Romney, meet Mr. Marvin Schur, a WWII Veteran whose electricity was turned off for an unpaid bill.
About That 93-Year-Old Man Who Froze to Death
http://theboard.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/27/about-that-93-year-old-man-who-froze-to-death/
Please Mr. President, please. Don't let him get away with it at the next debate. The Governor has shape-shifted, once again. Hold him accountable for his lies and aloofness. Speak for those who have no voice, and avenge the heinous treatment that they received in this country, simply because they are poor. Protect them from the likes of Governor Romney and his ilk. It is beneath contempt for the privileged 1% to continue to take from rest of us. You alluded to this at one time: "Romneyhood". Exactly...taking from the poor to give to the rich. This is the type of language and messaging that the people understand. Don't be afraid to use it.
I have faith that we will prevail. Remember beloveds, do not waver, and do not fret as our position is the right one. Our position is the moral one. To stand firmly in the belief of the common good can never, and will never be wrong. To paraphrase our great President FDR, we as a society should be judged as to how we treat the least fortunate amongst us.
We live during a time of privilege where we can find the means to do right by those who are suffering, if we so choose. However, we must ensure that we elect others who have the vision and the power to make this happen.
Good luck to us all and goodbye.
