I haven't posted here in over a week, and will post here less frequently, but a lot of my

fellow Bernie supporters aren't realistic. Hillary could legitimately win 40+ states after Trump becomes the nominee his KKK support will sink him.

Hillary will be the 45th president of the United States of America.

It's a wrap!

I wish I shared your perspective but honestly if his other outrageous statements haven't sunk him yet, this one won't either as disgusting as it is

In fact I think Trump will have a massive win today with even bigger turnout than ever

very sobering turnoff as well. Not just for those who are already appalled by him. I'm also wondering if the excitement of some of those who've been using him to give the finger to the GOP "establishment" might also be tempered with a shiver of apprehension.

Of course, I could be overestimating even some of them yet again. I thought his disastrous 2000 campaign proved to them that they couldn't vote for that year's clueless buffoon, W.

Some talking head on TV was actually predicting this election would see the end of the wealth-serving group of ignorant social conservatives that the GOP has devolved into. (Actually, she just predicted the disintegration of the GOP, the rest is mine) . We'll see. It's way, way overdue.

Because that's who's going to decide the election, as has been usual of late.

My prediction is that while that association will hurt him badly in things like street interviews, when push comes to shove in the voting booth, his outsider status, pandering, etc. will override that...when there's no one to witness the vote for the racist.

There are too many closet racists out there still unfortunately

Those who are disgusted by his anti-Muslim/Mexican rhetoric are already turned off and won’t vote for him so they're already out of the mix.

Adding in AA racism isn't going to be the deal breaker for his remaining supporters imo

I think you underestimate the degree to which she is hated, thus massively motivating far-right turnout (to a far greater degree than Trump's nomination de-motivates traditionalist Republicans). Trump will crush any status-quo candidate among the critical segment: moderate independents. This "year of the outsider" stuff is very real. Inexplicably garnering most of the black vote can't offset that in the swing states that will actually decide the election.

I also think you may underestimate the degree to which her campaign (and the sizable contingent of abrasive, dismissive, gloating assholes among her supporters) is going to harm turnout on the the far-left. If someone had a gun to my head demanding I vote for Hillary, I'd have to think long and hard about trying for the disarm...

Genuine leftists aren't going to vote for the guy, regardless...but a huge number will not come out for Hillary. And as I assert elsewhere, I think a lot of those moderate independents in swing states might decry that KKK connection to their friends (or even pollsters), but in the privacy of the voting booth, it will matter far, far less than his outsider status versus the cozy, part-of-the-problem status of his opponent.
