Obama should use these points to refute Romney speaking about his days as MA Governor

Romney pretends his election as governor in MA was something extraordinary. MA had Republican governors for 12 years before Romney. Not so extraordinary to elect Romney.

- Republican William Weld January 3, 1991 to July 29, 1997 (resigned)

- Republican Paul Cellucci July 29, 1997 to April 10, 2001 Republican (resigned)

- Republican Jane Swift April 10, 2001 to January 2, 2003 (did not run for reelection)

- Then Mitt Romney January 2, 2003 to January 4, 2007


Second, when President Obama was elected, Mitch McConnell said the Republican number one goal was to make Obama a "one term president."

When Romney was elected Governor of MA, Democrats in the legislature did not make similar statements about their chief goal being making Romney into a "one-term governor." Romney did not run for re-election, in fact he checked out of the state around 2006 - as he began his run for the 2008 Presidential election.

Romney has NO business suggesting his situation as Governor in MA is anything like what Ryan, Boehner, Cantor and McConnell et al greeted President Obama with in 2009.
