Kidding. Seriously, why anybody is polling the safe states at this point is beyond me. Serious waste of money.

Obama was leading by 20-25 points in California until last week.

But earlier this week, Obama took a big hit in California, as he did in Massachusetts. Instead of leading by huge margins like 25 points in these states, he fell down to 14 point leads in certain polls. Obviously a fall like that doesn't change the fact that he will win these states, but it was a bad sign because it showed how erosion in support was taking place across the country in swing states where it DOES matter.

If Obama starts going back up in states like California and Massachusetts, that would be a good sign for the swing states that the decline there might also start to reverse itself.
