You don't really have to answer. I agree that you have every right to disagree with his politics.

I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Tyson as well... probably even more now for having the guts to put this out there.

We need to knock them out of our government.

Let them petition the government but on a basis that is equal to any other person and not backed up by huge parties and big donations to campaigns.

"Meretz is a secular party emphasizing a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, social justice, human rights (especially for ethnic and sexual minorities), religious freedom, and environmentalism."

"Considering how religious he was" -- how religious was he? do we really know? i'd be interested in sources of discussion on this topic

I'm an Atheist, but I certainly know enough about Jesus Christ in the Bible to know that Bernie would be the only one Jesus would likely vote for. Everybody else in the field has distorted his teachings to the point of taking a raging hateful shit on them.

"See how that works?"

Everyone sees that you avoided the actual question. Obviously, if you know anything about the myths of Jesus, that knowledge would lead you to a different answer than the one you want to give. Thus, you cannot answer unless you answer dishonestly. Hence, you deflect and avoid being dishonest.

There are no contemporaneous accounts of Jesus saying whatever he is alleged to have said. There is no historical evidence that he actually lived because he is absent from the historical records of the Roman historians.

Religion has been corrupted by power players and charlatans. It's been that way for a loooong time.

A figure like Jesus seemed to want to help everybody. For a 'Christian' nation we sure leave a lot of folks behind.

Edit: I don't see that changing under anybody, but our best shot seems to be Sanders.

Thank you Dr. Tyson. Thank you. That is the best endorsement for either candidate this year.

And as someone pointed out to me the other day, not only was Bernie Sanders born Jewish, but he worked as a carpenter in his youth AND teaches the same kind of love and compassion that Jesus taught.

For Christians and anyone who admires and adopts Jesus' teachings as guidance in their life, Bernie is THE CANDIDATE TO VOTE FOR.

Jesus and Bernie have much in common.
They are both Jewish
They are both carpenters
They are both from humble beginnings
They both have a message of equality, love, and peace.
They both were not involved in the organized religions of their day.
They both want to change the world for the better and for all people to prosper.
