2016 Postmortem

you can combine Hillary's vote total with that of all five active along with one inactive Republicans in the race Trump, Kasich, Rubio, Cruz, Carson, Bush and the people of Vermont would still overwhelmingly choose Bernie as their next President and Commander in Chief by a double digit margin of approximately 59 & 1/2 % to 40 & 1/2% 115,863 votes to 78,198.

Some people would argue that Vermont is "small potatoes" in the grand scheme of things but it can't be denied they know Bernie Sanders better than any other state in the Union.
This is one reason as to why Schultz did such a disservice to the Democratic Party and the nation in general by greatly limiting the number of debates and scheduling them for ridiculous times when they would least likely be viewed as an attempt to protect Hillary in the Democratic Primaries due to her greater overall name recognition.
The obvious result; allowing the Republicans to rule the airwaves for most all of last year and the early part of this year with continuous debates and debate coverage by the corporate media conglomerates with little to no substantial national stage counter-rebuttal or message by the Democrats.
I have no doubt this greatly aided Trump in his rise to Republican Prominence as the Republicans themselves and the corporate media conglomerates were loath to aggressively go after Trump early in their race and counter his idiocy, racism and xenophobia.

(55,745 posts)From 1991-2007, Vermonters were sending Bernie back to the U.S. House of Representatives as their sole, at-large Rep.
They've sent him back to the U.S. Senate twice.
I think they know him. I became a supporter way back when I first heard him talking about the rich and how they were setting policy in Wall Street-on-the-Potomac.
Thank you, Uncle Joe, for every word. Pin this thread to the Greatest Page until Philadelphia.

They simply know him better, that's particularly easy as Vermont is not a large state.
