Its good for business owners because they can get four high skilled employees on L1 visas for what they pay one American.
The entire video can be found here-

And soon there will be no way to stop the flow, because it will become part of all government procurement, here in the US, with the work an entitlement of low bidding corporations, wherever they are in the world.
Thats the legacy of the LAST Clinton Administration
It should be noted that the US-founded WTO GATS is also dismembering the Indian public education system as a condition of membership!
And poor Indian students - many poor because of India's caste system, are not happy with the nation's the most populous country in the world, with a middle class twice the size of the US's and endemic corruption,'s embrace of Clinton-Obama-Bush style neoliberalism.
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A.in+GATS+education+WTO (WTO rules "require ending right to education" in india, for corporations (searrch which shows a dialogue happening in India which the US never had, the media here suppressed it)
Authoritative source that this is happening in the US and EU too.. because of TiSA which is intended to merge ino WTO GATS.. which is still not finished because its so controversial. look for example at GATS Article I:3

(2,329 posts)put Americans out of work by outsourcing jobs to India?
We have people, in this country, who have the skills to perform these jobs. The only reason to import labor is to depress wages

(19,877 posts)Are you privileged to a job just because you were lucky enough to be born one one side of a border?
And second, many large industries need millions of square feet of land and access to transportation routes, which usually puts them in the middle of nowhere America, meaning the surrounding populace most likely doesnt have the necessary skills, some may, but immediate qualified workers may be needed, especially up the ladder.
Also, about that whole "depress wages" trope, heres some current jobs and salary. http://www.h1bwage.com/

(2,329 posts)looking for a job. You just might have to pay a little more to get him/her.
When you can hire 4 visa workers for the same cost as a single American worker you're depressing wages. Would you cut your salary demands by 75% so you could get a job you're qualified to do?

(4,667 posts)I guess thats the plan, they can use their savings to buy a condo in india maybe? Or Guatemala. where the land they live on is literally fertilized with the blood of its previous occupants.. Nothing like the real estate biz..
"hell, they didnt have any papers for it"
i see problems ahead once this kicks in. meanwhile they have been eliminating india's right to public education

(4,667 posts)Basically, the winners of contracts for goods and services need to be picked by both the winning low bid and other factors which are agreed to be objective criteria, such as track record, education, and other qualifications.
the idea is to create a global "level playing field" for big corporations.
Small local companies wont be able to play this game. So they will be excluded from those service sectors as huge global firms take over areas like education, prisons, and everything else you cannot drop on your foot. (the typically used definition of services)
Of course, public services have to be privatized for this to work, so they do that - they all use the same 1995 definition (which I quote below so you can google it) which they consistently misrepresent as "protecting public services" but it absolutely does nothing of the kind.
"For the purposes of this Agreement
(b) 'services' includes any service in any sector except services supplied in the exercise of governmental authority;
(c) 'a service supplied in the exercise of governmental authority' means any service which is supplied neither on a commercial basis, nor in competition with one or more service suppliers.
So, Canada's completely free health care system is not subject to mandatory privatiization only if it remains completely free with no money charged of patients at all, AND ALSO NO COMPETITION WHATSOEVER FROM ANY COMMERCIAL PROVIDERS OF HEALTH INSURANCE IN THE COUNTRY.
Otherwise, the entire service sector becomes subject to all the trade deals which are written for the express purpose of destroying public services.

(4,667 posts)They may have to pay minimum wage, perhaps even the higher of the two countries miimum wage. Somewhere on the WTO web site roughly under "Disciplines on Domestic Regulation" there is at least a ten year long chain of proposals and counter proposals on wage parity, whether the developing countries even want wage parity (which in his context may well mean paying the minimum wage of the host country rather than whatever workers are paid normally which may in many cases be much less. ) In my recollection the idea of having to pay any specific wage at all is rejected by lage groups of developing countries because they see that as a trade barrier that countries like the US will use to get out of their obligation to open up procurements to all. For example, in the 1990s, after the removal of the (US backed) military dictatorship the people of El Salvador overwhelmingly voted an increase in the minimum wage which the WTO made them rescind saying it was a trade barrier intended to keep other countries subcontracting firms out of their market.
Similarly, in 2006, the Slovak Republic voted to switch from private insurance to single payer in two steps, the first was limiting insurance company profits to 20% - whereupon they were immediately sued in a special corporations versus countries trade court by Achmea, a Dutch insurance firm (and Bill Clinton donor) for seizure of what they successfully argued were their lost "expected profits" from the change. Achmea won. In the second of the two cases, Achmea sued them to stop the second phase of the switchover before it had actually even been attempted, and in that case the court ruled that they did not have the juriddiction to actually change Slovak laws and assess fines before the second change had actually occurred, only to assess huge fines on them if they actually did do it until THEY reversed it. You can read the cases on italaw dot com under Slovak Achmea or similar. You might also want to browse around a bit - you'll find out about this huge global problem tha the Hillary Clinton campaign is pretending doesnt exist because it SO closely associated with Bill Clinton in other countries because he was US President during the WTOs creation. So a vote for Clinton will be seen as US approval for tis scheme which obviously is going to hugely hurt American workers. Thats a bit like a duck decoy on a frozen lake for hunters, it allows other ducks to be fooled a lot more easily. But to pull that off we have to be kept in the dark, also our deals on healthcare education, etc, have to show that we're not afraid to give our own countrymen a deal thats not a sweetheart deal at all. So a vote for hillary is seen as an endorsement of something we don't even know about.
See the problem?
If you want to read the developing country position on trade in services and progressive liberalisation issues in general good web sites are run by groups like the Third World Network in Malaysia (anti-liberalisation) and (pro-liberalisation) CUTS-geneva.org which is an organization of African countries mission to the WTO in Geneva. CUTS-geneva also has a web site for prospective contractors at I think tradeinservices .net
There you can hear other viewpoints than the ones you are not hearing in the US.

(4,667 posts)I am not talking about outsourcing jobs TO other countries I am talking about low bidding companies doing those jobs here. Under Mode Four provisions of pending and Clinton era trade deals..
For very low pay.
Read between the lines of USTR Froman's statement here. As he says, its a message, can you read what it says? hint, ITS NOT ABOUT INDIA.
This message is a message to the world that Sanders is just a show for TV and that the deal is still on.

(4,667 posts)Not one single person here now knows about the WTO except for me, I guarantee it. they totally lie about it here.
Its a suppressed subject, so what we are are victims of major corruption, you are familiar with that in India, we have it here too. MAJOR corruption. the worlds biggest pro corruption.
We are both victims of the same scammers. They promised us both the same future, divide and conquer.

(4,667 posts)or hospital that gets some government funding, be aware that soon, all government procurement, likely including unionized workplaces, will need to conform with WTO rules which means globalized government procurement. Thats where firms from low wage countries have a huge huge advantage, even if their employers have to pay minimum wage (which they may)
Currently i am prety sure they dont need to pay L1 visa holders minimum wage..
TiSA is similar to GATS, but it has a "negative list" which means everything is included unless it is carved out now.
Watch Sanya Reid Smith, she is very good. You can read the specifics on wikileaks but youre unlikely to understand it without some context.

(4,667 posts)is about to get a HUGE shot in the arm by TiSA
and also india's proposed "Trade facilitation Agreement" on services
Look, i realize that many Americans dont have educations and are buried in debt, or have families to feed etc who need them to make decent money, so they cannot compete, its true, we cannot compete with global norm al wages which are a fraction of here.. Not only that but they totally lied to us on health care. While smiling, they wasted twenty years of our countrys time on healthcare also having us bark up the wrong tree lying all the time about the cause and still lying, while 20 million poor people died.

(1,508 posts)when the interviewer ask her about President Obama complaining about job outsourcing. She says "Well you know it's an election campaign and like any election campaign it's an obligation to talk about what's on peoples minds. I'ts more directed toward the fear of Americans who were in manufacturing and feel they don't have any other job possibilities..... That says a lot about how she feels about Main Street.

(4,667 posts)Think long and hard whether you want to vote for the wife of the man who created THE WTO..
Its like a referendum telling the world we go along with something we dont even know at all about, something we absolutely don't.
Remember the myth of "El Dorado"? That was peddled to the conquistadors..
Golden cities right over the next hill.. Thats how we're marketing the WTO "progressive liberalisation" model to poor countries.
Pretending health care and education in the US is successful, when its not, hiding the truth. To get to eldorado, they must give up affordable healthcare and education
Its been totally hidden from us.

(1,508 posts)You never have to worry about me voting for HRC. I would never do that, aside from the hype the media tries to present, I realize the destruction they wreaked on this nation when they were in the White House. Don't want that to ever happen again, but if it does, my conscience will be clear. My vote is for Bernie Sanders, and I will write him in if he doesn't win the primary or vote 3rd party, anything other than mark my ballot for HRC.

(4,667 posts)...
For example, the per capita lifetime expenses on health care in the US was $360,000 in 2000, and using the CPI for everything tha would be over half a million dollars now. But the CPI for health care is many times what the CPI for other things, especially because of drugs, even generics which have skyrocketed since Clinton protege Obama took office.
So, think high six or low seven figures per person minimum. I think that the assumption that it will break someday is ignoring the issue of nuclear weapons, I think that if their agenda goes forward, the human race wont survive this century. Their progressive liberalisation scheme needs to be exposed before both the developing world and the US invests any further in it. Its not just a matter of another eight years and 800,000 unnecessary deaths, the numbers will go up and also they are making it impossible to regulate chemicals effectively in other countries similarly to whats been done in the US. Also, exporting energy will mean huge changes in cities as affordable postwar housing is replaced and millions of families lose their low rents which are tied to specific apartments in those buildings. Do you get (also see) this message?
