100 doors yesterday + 78 today

great results today in canvassing (west end Richmond VA) of the 78 doors/names I had 9 #1's (that is us!) 3 #3's (undecided) and only 5 #5's (that is them).

BUT I actually got 17 face-to-face contacts. Of the #3's I am sure that at least 2 of them will come with us. This is the Tim Kaine campaign mind you so that is how I mark the results. I assume if you are voting for Kaine you are voting for The President.

Yesterday I had this exchange:
Woman answering the door : "Well I am going to vote for someone"
Me:" You can vote for Kaine" - as I hand her our campaign literature
Woman: "Okay I will"

Yesterday I actually had someone confront me (very rare).
He was on my list but I saw Romney-Allen-Cantor signs in his yard. He and his son/grandson were loading up a trailer with tree limbs.
I marked him down as a #5 - no need to waste time on him.
I finish my last house on the list and I am walking back down the quiet near-westend Richmond street.

Him "Kaine huh?"
Me: "Yes Sir"
Him: "He is going to lose you know"
Me: "Okay" (still walking)
Him: "And I GUARANTEE you that Obama is going to lose"
Me: "Okay" (still walking)
I am 30 feet by him and he says, "What do you do for a living?"
Me: "I am an accountant"
Him: "Where is this recovery?"
Me: "We are recovering. It didn't get broke overnight you know"
Him: "No we aren't!! It is taking too long"
Me: "The blondes on Fox News are lying to you"
turned and walked on to my car.

seeing that I marched against the War on Iraq on October 26, 2002 (with other DU'ers) and since I did serve in the Army (Cav Scout) I like that title better than any title I have ever had.

I'm SO awful with dates and such, though. The files say 9/26/2005, but that may have been when I dumped them on Hubby's pc.

When we went to DC, and I'm assuming there was more than one year that the people marched on DC against the war in Iraq... it was surreal.

DC took that weekend to start "maintenance" on the bus line that went from the airport to the march. Some people grabbed cabs. We were late anyway, so we just got off and marched with our luggage!

There was practically NO news coverage. We had 1/2 a million people there by some estimates, and a St Bernard that swallowed a butcher knife and lived got more news coverage than we did.

It was the year that Cindy Sheehan brought Camp Casey to DC and got arrested at the back gate of the White House. It probably was 2005. We were fighting for the *ush Whitehouse to even ACKNOWLEDGE the number of soldiers dying over in Iraq. So there were flag draped coffins and crosses and I think boots out there representing the soldiers killed.

BUT at any rate HI!!

The alternative is the guy who's being advised by PNAC has-beens from the dubya/cheney days, and friends like john mcsame who urge as many as FIVE wars to get started or cranked back up in the Arab world. Sounds like our side IS the Peace side.

Good work, underpants! True boots on the ground!

You are in Cali right? Well there may be something you can do from the national OFA site or in Nevada - via your computer.

Remember this - at about 9:30 on Nov. 6th whatever number The O man has in electoral college votes add 78 (CA, OR, WA, HI) and add 3 to Romney (Alaska). The O man only has to get 192 east of the Rockies to win.

You have to always be the better person. Many neighbors will see and /or hear your exchanges so it can be a great opportunity to see the ugliness of the ones on the other side. Who wants to vote the same as an asshole! You do sometimes reach a point where it is just you and them. Just kill them with prepared facts, and when you can, do like this person! Yeah baby!

the whole neighborhood was littered with signs. I gave away 2 kaine signs and the only (2) Obama-Kaine-Powell signs that I had.

There are more Powell signs than Obama signs.

I'm seeing a few more Cantor signs pop up, but I'm HEARING people talk about Powell. District 7 is certainly a race that's close, regardless of what some people think.

Thanks so much for your hard work. This is what grass roots looks like!
