The President needs to be firm but nurturing in his tone

when he answers debate questions. He needs to address Romney fully and directly and quickly when Romney lies, by turning toward Romney and being Presidential, firm. The president needs to resist looking down, or looking bored.
on the other hand;
He needs to make "love" (eye contact, smile and extend positive body language) to the camera, to a person in the audience....whatever and who ever!

When America sees Romney waddle, or whatever you call that thing he does that some call walking, when American sees Romney's beady eyes dart and when they listen to his lies...it will be the fork.

4. There is no evidence that President Obama has any difficulty in directly addressing ordinary people

Your headline advice seems more appropriately directed at Romney, who has repeatedly come off as tone deaf, callous, arrogant and just plain rude during unscripted meetups with the 47%. Think of the 7/11 cookies. Think of the schoolteacher invited to a meeting with him, who offered an "answer" to his concern and was lectured "I didn't ask you a question." He has a lifelong habit and ingrained belief in ensuring we understand his superiority over the rest of us.

The President's challenge will be to answer questioners directly and then remain positive while he segues into a direct challenge to Romney's lies and equivocations. He was successful during the '08 Town Hall with Hillary, when he was able to criticize her without seeming negative.

He'll have 2 minutes to answer questions. That gives him >1 minute to answer the question and <1 minute to smile while he criticizes Romney's position(s) on the question. He cannot rely on trying to think through and articulate such answers on the spot. He needs to have memorized a couple pages worth 2 minute elevator speeches with very succinct and clear answers to likely questions on the key issues so they are readily available as needed.

Presidents 1st debate, I didn't think my OP was disrespectful or said anything about evidence. My OP is about the obvious.

Town Hall formats speaking to ordinary people. He has demonstrated this repeatedly.

Romney is the one who needs advice about the obvious in directly talking to one of the 47%.

The President was thrown off by the level of Romneys lying in the first debate, that and the warp speed of Romney's lies undermined the debate. Obama was not prepared and in that instance, demonstrated that he wasn't confident on what he needed to do.

My OP is encouraging him - nothing less, nothing more.
