Related: About this forumCongress should release its emails, too
Since there's such concern about Hillary's emails, it would be prudent for all Congresspeople to also release all their emails to demonstrate they have not used email to share secret documents, send personal emails, reach out to donors, forward campaign literature, and so on. After all, this fake email scandal has forced Hillary to be the most transparent politician, others should be equally transparent. At least Bernie and the other presidential candidates should release all their emails to show that they are as pure as the driven snow.

(5,636 posts)The fact is anything Hillary is accused of can be done from a government email server as well, and God knows from Snowden and Assange, that just because something is run by the government doesn't mean it's particularly secure. If the concerns about Hillary's emails are legitimate, then those concerns should be looked at on government servers as well.

(105 posts)A private email server can be hacked and no one would ever know.
And I mean no one except the hackers.
Government servers and networks have all sorts of watchdog security.
But yes they can get hacked also.

(22,877 posts)Are you saying it is impossible to build effective firewalls for a private server?
CdnExtraNational
(105 posts)But if the firewall and surveillance fails it would be the Clinton's fault.
If these fail on a government server then it would be the fault of an IT group of people who all have credentials in handling systems with classified information.
I wouldn't recommend allowing this for an employee of a company with intellectual property considerations.
She was the Secretary of State.

Do they all maintain private servers?
News to me.
You just don't like it that her own actions caused problems that continue to plague her.
Deal with it.

(5,636 posts)... is to demand the same of others. If the "concern" is that she has abused security, then let's check the emails of others, at least those of the presidential candidates. Just because they use a government server doesn't mean they haven't sent out classified info, or violated the law by using their government email for campaign purposes.
