If the conservative vote is divided between Trump and another candidate then Clinton stands a decent chance to win many of those states. My opinion is that is less likely for Sanders to win in those states even if two candidates from the right appear on the ballot.
Conversely, either Hillary or Bernie stands a good chance to win in the traditionally blue states. The purple states are a toss-up depending upon the section of the country and other factors.
