Related: About this forumSanders shocks with historic upset in Michigan
With his startling, come-from-behind victory Tuesday in Michigan, the underdog senator from Vermont pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Democratic primary history ...
Its a result that may spell trouble for Clinton, as other Rust Belt states Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania head to the polls in the weeks ahead.
Sanders continued to rack up huge margins in Michigan among the voters who have been fueling his candidacy all along. He won voters under 30 by 63 points. He won men by 12 points. He won whites by 16 points. He won independents by 43 points. He won voters who value honesty above all else by 61 points. He won white women by five points. He won whites without a college degree by 17 points. He won voters who make less than $50,000 a year by five points. He even won union voters (by two points). And he lost the black vote by a much smaller margin than he has in the South.
Clinton has more reason to worry after Michigan than she did before. On March 15, Ohio will vote; like Michigan, it will be an open primary, which means that independents, who favor Sanders, can participate. Another open primary, in Wisconsin, will follow on April 5. Then comes Pennsylvania on April 26. Clintons polling lead in each of these Rust Belt states is smaller than it was in Michigan; in fact, the latest Wisconsin survey shows Sanders in the lead.

(13,870 posts)Sanders won MI by 1.7% and won 7 more delegates than Clinton.
Clinton won MS by 66% and won 25 more delegates than Sanders.
That looks like falling further behind, not making history.

(1,947 posts)when enjoyed after a 20+ point upset. How do you like your crow served hot or cold? Hillary is running out of southern states, he wasn't going to make it past Super Tuesday. He was only going to win Vermont. Maybe just Vermont and N.H. We( Sanders supporters) will just keep plugging away. Her Corporateness has told one to many fibs I believe.

(13,870 posts)A 1.7% win, that means for that day Sanders only falls 15 or so delegates further behind, is considered a breakthrough, historic victory.

(1,947 posts)I bet you do. Fact of the matter is you Hillary predictors have a track record that's comparable to " we will be greeted as liberators" If I were wrong as often as you folks pride and dignity would force me to quit making predictions. I am actually looking forward to the taking back of the democratic party, you third wayers have destroyed it for 30 years. You realize you are whistling past the graveyard, think Hillary can earn the independents Bernie does? Not a freaking chance, she is struggling to maintain the small national lead she has and with each day that is shrinking.
