(11,945 posts)It's not as damning as Bill and Hill's actual records, but sometimes one picture is worth a thousand words.

I just told my husband he was probably sitting up there watching the circus with his popcorn and laughing his ass off.

(11,257 posts)This picture was taken at a fundraiser for Joe Torre's Safe at Home Foundation, which supports victims of domestic violence.
And it is not a photo of just the four of them. What you posted is a distortion that crops out other attendees at the fundraiser, including Billy Crystal.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)It doesn't show anyone sitting around a fundraising table that includes Billy Crystal or any victim of domestic violence. It shows an inner group who during this event "got together". You can't deny what it shows, and inject shame for WHERE they were, or WHAT the event was supposed to have been.
It's their little club... And I didn't see any of those others in it, EITHER!.

(12,655 posts)its the ultrarich and powerful hobnobbing together, showing that in one percent world, party affiliation is irrelevant. meanwhile, they leave us peons to try and draw r vs d lines while they revel in wealth.
at least that is how i see the photo.
Beacool
(30,250 posts)And to post only half of the photo to attack Bill is definitely disingenuous.

(12,655 posts)i just assume trump schmooozes with everyone anyway, if that helps.
i do think that at that level, they don't really care much about each others politics

(11,945 posts)know that "charity," for the upper middle and upper class, is a self-serving, self-promotional, social activity where preening, seeing and being seen, networking, and posing for photographs is the entire point.
Surely you know that.
Hint: how many of the lower classes were invited to the dinner? I mean, besides those who cooked, served, and cleaned up?
Lose the whitewashing. It's better to be real.

(30,250 posts)By the way, the last pic was an official event. Was she supposed to kicking the mayor in the shins? You know perfectly well that you posted a cropped pic to attack Bill. If you had been honest, you would have posted the full photo.

(45,251 posts)Even if the photo is nitpicked to death, there are thousands of other photos, as you well know. And Carlin's comment was about America society, not photos.
And don't forget Bush is his BFF.
And that Bush Senior calls him "his adopted son".

(2,603 posts)We'll never see pics of him on some outing laughing about the way they have reigned supreme over the little people.
I'm sure there are some black tie POTUS events of meet and greets with Sanders, but nothing like this outing in the OP.
Bernie is more likely to be found walking the picket line or standing for hours in the House fighting for us. There are lots of those pictures.

(2,603 posts)What we see in the pics is important. It goes towards character. Bernie stands with us, Hillary stands with the 1% in an effort to increase her personal wealth.

(45,251 posts)Bernie in the future.
If he is President, he will definitely be in pics smiling with all kinds of people. What pics Bernie may be in if he is President has nothing to do with why I am voting for him or with Carlin's comment.
Cassiopeia
(2,603 posts)fighting the same message.
The OP was it's a big club and you aren't in it. Bernie has never been a part of the club because he's always fought against it. I don't expect that to change when he get elected as our next POTUS.
I just don't want people to assume they will not see a President is in pics with all kinds of people.
Carlin's comment was not about pics, after all. It was about a "club" of rich and powerful people excluding everyone else in which most Americans do not participate.
The OP had a pic to illustrate the comment Carlin made.
Just pointing out that media today can point out exactly what Carlin was talking about.

Therefore it's just not cricket to show them being chummy with each other in that particular context, etc. etc.

(2,603 posts)The best I've got is showing the original image posted up thread, but it doesn't change the setting. This is an elite group that has worked their asses off.....
Ok, they've never WORKED. They've done a lot of back room deals, smoked cigars, had drinks, hell, I've never been privy to all the ins and outs of the parties the 1% have, but I know they've never laid 3 flatbed trucks of sod on the ground, I know they've never cleaned the bedpans of countless patients, and they've never had to clean toilets to find their next meal.
So, you posted a bunch of emoticons like an argument, please explain how the OP pic or the original pic makes any difference. Please explain it all.
