Decoy of Fenris

Thank you, Secretary Hillary Clinton.

I've been waffling a bit on all of this primary stuff. I've been staying out of GD: P since I didn't really hold a strong stance. Yes, I leaned Sanders, but I was open to movement to the Clinton side, given a good performance at some point.. I watched her this debate and was impressed; I saw Sanders fumble the Cuba and Nicaragua questions, I thought to myself "Okay... Clinton, you may be a better choice on foreign policy alone." She certainly won this debate, though by a slim margin.

And then, at the end of it all, when Sanders said that America could do better, Clinton just cackled. She laughed at the notion that people can improve, that a country can grow and develop into something more. She laughed at the hopes and dreams of those who strive for more, for betterment not only of themselves but of the people and the country around them. She looked into the camera, offering a ululating "fuck you" in the form of a mocking giggle, to those who would rise up to the challenge and give of themselves so the less fortunate didn't have to stay that way.

I'm not going to be cute or subtle (not my style), and if/when I get hidden, so be it; Thank you, Mrs. Clinton. I've crawled and scraped my way up from living on the streets; fought tooth and nail for every dollar I've earned, every meal I've eaten. I've lived by begging, then working paycheck to paycheck, and only now, thirty years in, am I "Comfortable." I've done my time as life's bitch to scrabble together some semblance of a "good" life. I've done this for first myself, and now for my daughter, and you would just giggle at the notion of making my daughter's life something worth experiencing, something positive and wholesome so she doesn't have to experience what I did.

I can't say I've ever had an enemy in my life, but I do now. So thank you for that, Mrs. Clinton. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for letting me know just what a heartless human being you are, and how little you think of our country and of my daughter's future. Madam Secretary, from my daughter and fiance and myself, with sincerity, kindly go fuck yourself with a brick.

And now, readers, I have to go put in another 16 hour shift to make sure my family is well-taken care of. Please enjoy your evenings and sleep well when you get there.

That's one of their primary features as words: to communicate ideas via a shared understanding of the meaning of those words.

I'm not sure if you tried your suggestion about a google image search on "cackle", but I did.. it has a surprising number of Hillary Clinton images, but also no shortage of men who are laughing (presumably) shrilly or sharply. I'm not going to do a full data analysis right now, but I'd say that if you omitted Clinton's image, it would be a reasonable distribution of both men and women in the image search. All ears if someone wants to do the math and prove me wrong, though.

and most of the context of postings I have seen on this site recently consist of an assertion that everyone who politically opposes Clinton as the Democratic nominee is a sexist anti-Semite who wants free stuff and is too far left to live in this country. I respectfully disagree.

I also think that simply laughing off the hopes and aspirations for change through hard work, whether referred to as cackling, chortling, chuckling, guffawing, giggling, tittering, sniggering, snickering, or any of the other synonyms, is showing her true colors as to her political aspirations.

at least in the 'latest threads' area of the site. That is anecdotal on my part, though. I do also see an awful lot of accusations of sexism towards Sanders, and especially towards his supporters.

I know we disagree on how much misogyny is inherent to that term but am not sure how much we disagree about the poster's main points.. he was uncertain about Clinton as nominee given his preference towards her on foreign policy decisions, but was spurred strongly to supporting Sanders due to her laughing-off ('giggling' appears more than 'cackling' in the poster's description of her laugh, along with the colorful but accurate "ululating fuck-you&quot of the idea that we can individually and collectively do better via hard work.. they said it this way above:

"And then, at the end of it all, when Sanders said that America could do better, Clinton just cackled. She laughed at the notion that people can improve, that a country can grow and develop into something more. She laughed at the hopes and dreams of those who strive for more, for betterment not only of themselves but of the people and the country around them. Fri Mar 11, 2016, 11:30 AM
Mar 2016

I have no problem with disagreeing with Clinton on policy. Given I lean quite a bit more toward Bernie myself, I obviously get it. But feminism is and has always been very high on my list of priorities, and my posting history will bare that out. As a result, I'm sure my bar for what would be considered sexism is different than others. I don't think that just because someone disagrees, it means they're sexist. But I do see the sexism directed at Hillary. I don't think there is any denying it. I think everyone has some biases because society is rife with them and we're all affected. I think Hillary will be judged in a way that men simply aren't and everyone does it. I even catch myself doing it.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

"Go fuck yourself with a brick"...I'm all for passionate, reasoned debate but this ain't it.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Mar 9, 2016, 11:51 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: the other day, a post calling Bernie a "motherfucker" was allowed to stand. While distasteful, IMO this post is not as bad as that one. So, leave it. People are understandably upset with all the lies and smears HRH has been spreading, especially the past few days. People are hurting, and hoping for a better future, and she LAUGHS at that hope???
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Vile. Hide.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: it was passionate and in bounds until that offensive ending, so hide. We are better than this - and I am a Sanders supporter. This is just over the top and disrespectful.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Meh....
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: "Go fuck yourself with a brick"... Who the fuck are these people?

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

IT IS VIOLENCE TOWARD WOMEN.

Would you approve of someone saying that about a female that you held dear?

I find the statement ugly and would not approve of it being said of anyone I held dear, male or female. That is why I do not find it sexist in the least. It is, however, quite vulgar.

violence towards men?

Actually either way, it's violence towards ONE man or, in this case, ONE woman. Not all women.

I'm not fond of it either but I really don't see sexism in this particular saying. Not that violence is any better.

Of course, anything positive said about her can also be construed as a 'meme' sent out by a team of evil corporate conspiracists too. I see a lot of that all over this site. It disturbs me primarily because I'm just an individual who still likes Sanders and still doesn't mind Clinton. I want to beat the republicans in November, I mean whup their butts. With the recent Michigan poll being so off, I wonder if the 'head to head' polls are way off too. I think reasonable minds can have differing views on a potential candidate for the democratic nomination. I've leaned toward Hillary and leaned toward Sanders and my state doesn't vote until June. Right now I'm leaning toward Sanders. I think they're both far better than whoever they put up for the republican nomination. Hope you enjoy a good evening!

#2, #3 and #7 need to be hidden. Here is a guy that saw the truth and relayed his absolute honest feelings about what it is he saw.

These Jurors are so jaded with bias. Even if I were a Hillary supporter, it merely takes a moment to read such a heart felt post written not out of malice, but as a simple observation. The OP isn't a cut and paste and it is not a "hillary is retarded" sort of tort, her cackling at the very idea that America can do better is pure about her nature and a Micro-expression into how she really feels.

The OP is very astute for observing this, wrote his fears and feelings based on that observation for "us" to share.

Juror #2, #3 and #7, you really need some time looking in the mirror.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1280139170

"My fiance and I just got our Bernie bumper-stickers (out of the blue and without asking, apparently), and it seems like almost all of Central New York did as well. During a half hour drive, I counted Sanders stickers by the dozens. This is in the normally red-ish and rural area of the state. CNY's feeling the Bern something fierce. It remains to be seen if we can counter the unholy-powerful New York City bloc of voters, but we'll do our damnedest up here. "

I would find it equally objectionable if someone had said that Bernie should "go fuck himself with a brick". But of course, such an OP would have been hidden in a heartbeat - and no HRC supporter would post such an OP in the first instance.

To heck with what Hillary says, it is what she has supported in the past.

I really doubt she has changed her 3rd way mindset regardless how many times she claims to be a progressive.

They all say the $$ means nothing, and then vote for the interests of the $$ givers without hesitation.

I prefer more adult conversation, more substantive discussion than merely the posting of offensive remarks that don't address the issues, but reduce them to comments about who should "go fuck themselves with a brick".

Your mileage obviously varies.

Again, I would point out that the "lofty principles" of those who claim to be in possession thereof is just a matter of pretending one is above being in the gutter, when in fact one wallows in it at every opportunity.

I watched the debate and felt they both represented themselves and the democratic party well. My state doesn't vote until June. I tend to root for underdogs in life. I come here and read and there is so much misrepresentation about what Hillary said this evening that it actually makes me feel like Hillary is the underdog and want to vote for her over all the 'rahrah+++!!!!we'rethe REAL victims here, everyone else is a SWARM if YOU say anYThing I don't like HEARINg then that's a MEME+++111!!!!' horse shit that I'm actually feeling like Hillary Rodham Clinton is the goddamn underdog. I find that hilarious. If this stuff were accurately fact-checked, more than half the stuff written here would prove 'pants on fire' false.

At the very least it's kind of ironic & funny. Hope you're feeling better. If it really gets to you take a break and don't even bother reading here. It's incredibly absurd.

that if I'm not mistaken not only survived a jury but got dozens if not hundreds of recs. The one calling President Obama a 'piece of shit used car salesman.' Or the thousands of posts in DU hyper criticizing the democratic President and accusing him of all sorts of things that the right wing always also accuses him of doing or not doing.

Of course, many of the folks who recommended that and other similar threads now act like they've always been big supporters of President Obama. My guess is they were trashing him to all their friends. I've always had his back. I enjoy in regular offline conversations supporting and defending him and his tremendous progressive record of accomplishments.

I also love voting for the most progressive available candidate in every election especially local and state and congressional elections. The left failed President Obama miserably by failing to support him with a strong progressive Congress. Some will tell you it's all the DNC's fault. I happen to feel it's partly that and partly the fault of the people who fail to vote as well.

I found this very compelling. It's funny how an involuntary reaction becomes a tell into the true nature of a person. It's funny that you responded from this place as well, recognized the true nature of another based on your own experience. I'm not sentimental, but your story touches me and pointed out what is wrong with people who want power for the sake of it. How they worship the win over the desire to lead for the betterment of others. That's a rough way to realize that perhaps one's nature trumps one's ability to game the system. It all adds up to something that is pretty vacant. That laugh was one of entitlement. She feels entitled to the post of the presidency and has no real feel for how so many people in this country struggle. The leader of this country should be the most empathic. Supposedly he or she is there to serve us. The oath of office proclaims this. Thanks for posting.

After 8 DNC debates and your not having a strong stance you saw Hillary win the debate, but then damn her, there goes that cackle and you rattle off a whole page of raging insults and now she can go 'f' herself, as if she was looking out to you personally Decoy of Fenris and your daughter and laughing at your struggles. You Bernie supporters are a piece of work. I know that Decoy might not see this because after she posted her rantings she had to leave "to go work her 16 hours shift to make sure her family is well-taken care of".

I've noticed that Hillary has what appears to be a nervous cackle sometimes, as many speakers have when they are nervous. I have seen this over a lifetime. I never take it personal but for some strange reason you did. I know that a lot of Bernie supporters hate Hillary for various reasons, but running for office on a national platform is never easy. I don't know a politician, particularly female candidates who don't get nervous during public speaking. After all we do judge women candidates much more harshly than we do male candidates. All a guy has to do is put on a suit and show up. No one says anything about his clothes, his hair, his makeup, etc, even when his face is a bright orange and his hair is a comb over mess, he thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread. Bernie has sat in Congress for 25 years, collects a fat salary upwards of $174K plus travel money back and forth to his hamlet in Vermont and voted his principles with little else to show for it. But you can't buy bread for your daughter with principles. You can't pay the rent with principles. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions in the name of compromise in order to get something done. Maybe Madeline Albright was right about that special place reserved for women who don't support women.
