Clinton's laughing after Bernie's closing statement and the cheers for Bernie

seemed to show such disdain for Bernie and his supporters and their idea of having a government that works for the people and not the 1%.

Update: It was the same disdain she showed when she laughed at the young woman voter and told her to go run for office.

With the weight of the loss of Michigan on her shoulders, she knew she just blew this debate ... BADLY.

It brought back memories of watching bush try to fumble through debates.

How else could she react to her opponent's getting a standing ovation? She couldn't pretend to ignore it, she couldn't look upset about it... I'd have done the same thing. I'm not being critical; smiling and laughing a little to be a good sport was probably the best response she could have made.

i have seen comments online that she lost the nom last night. it was that bad. she was trying to appear pleasant until she could get herself off that stage. in light of what happened, i really cant blame her for that.

You think her laugh means disdain?

Dear God. Just listen to yourself. Get a grip.

I'm sick and tired of the constant attacks on Hillary on this site. Even when it's on issues, the issues get distorted. But this one isn't even on issues.

'Dear God just listen to yourself. Get a grip' is rude, condescending crap that you'd never pull face to face. If your objective is to make your side seem even slightly warm or human you need to rethink this nasty aggression trip you folks are so stuck in.
I read her supporters posts here and I think this: how do these people stay employed? Obviously they must know how to communicate without dripping contempt at others or they'd not be able to hold a job. So why do they think such ugly tactics will fly here or on the campaign trail?

So Bernie supporters constantly, endlessly, day after day, in virtually every post on GD-P, aggressively attack Hillary, distort her record, and even "interpret" her laugh, facial expressions, etc., in the most negative manner possible, and if even one Hillary supporter responds to that, then WE'RE the ones who are nasty and aggressive? I think you are projecting.

That's why its a discussion board. You seem to want censorship, or agreement with your view. I think she has shown condescenion and disdain many times. Perhaps that is part of the reason people don't trust her.

You are entitled to your own opinion. But false statements such as the "constantly, endlessly, day after day, in virtually every post" bit make it difficult to take seriously. It's not true, of course, and thus takes away from any valid point that you might make.

I started this primary season neutral about the two candidates. I was an Obama supporter in 2008, so I have no natural affinity with Hillary. I'm also pretty progressive, and agree with Bernie on a lot. So in the beginning I had no player in the game. The extreme negativity and aggression of a lot of Bernie supporters struck me almost immediately, and it certainly did not help make his case with me. It's not the primary reason why I ended up in Hillary's camp, but I can say that even when I was neutral, the negative attacks on Hillary's persona by Bernie supporters stood out. And it's gotten worse. Just look at the typical headlines here in GD-P on any given day.

So maybe it doesn't feel true to you, but to me most certainly does, and it did even before I chose Hillary.

emotions, are distinct from facts.

I agree that there is far too much hostility on DU:GDP. It involves the active participation of people who support each candidate. It is not only unnecessary, but harmful in the long run.

One remedy for that is to have more discussions based upon facts, rather than emotions. This is possible. In fact, I've posted a series of OPs here over the past month, that are based upon facts as well as political theory. Most have gotten very positive responses -- with a few people splattering toxic emotional outbursts. But, overall, very positive.

There are a couple that get little response. They are the ones in which I discuss the potential problems which will confront people like myself, should Hillary become our party's nominee. I always vote for our candidate in the presidential elections; more, I encourage others to do so. I suspect that one of the biggest stumbling blocks that people like me will face is the number of people who act upon feelings and emotions, rather than facts and rational thought.

which is part of my problem with this thread.

I have also posted treads that have to do with real issues, and gotten only limited response.

I still stand by my statement that there is a heck of a lot of attacks on Hillary on this site. There are attacks on Bernie too, of course, but the vitriol spewed against Hillary is like nothing I've ever seen.

agree that there are many -- far, far too many -- OP/threads attacking Hillary. Where I disagreed was on the part saying that's all there is.

And I know how threads attempting to discuss issues in a rational manner are so often ignored. But hopefully, if we keep plugging away, that can be changed. We will never end the nonsense completely, of course, but we can improve the quality of discussions. Our exchange on this thread is proof that a Hillary supporter and a Bernie supporter can discuss issues, and get along.

I'll be looking for your OPs. And, although I support Bernie, I'll be glad to "recommend" your's, just as I do with others who post good OPs here.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

She was SO pissed off that Bernie got the standing O, and I'm sure she wasn't very happy with how it went down overall. I initially got irritated that she had the mic a lot more than Bernie and the mods kept cutting him off, but it ended up being a good thing. The more Hillary talked, the more she incriminated herself. Give her enough rope.....

Hillary has had a rough couple of days.
